Chapter 333
Adrien glanced outside. Not far away, there was a car identical to his.
It was his man, who should have also investigated this village.

He looked to the side again and inadvertently made eye contact with a group of women enjoying the shade under a big tree at the village entrance. After a few seconds of eye contact, his eyebrows twitched, and he was the first to look away.
Mikele unfastened his seat belt and called out to him with a grin, “Let’s go, sir. That’s our village’s intelligence source.”
Then he playfully added, “Don’t worry, sir. They’ll gossip about you.”
Adrien was amused. He smiled, picked up his phone from the side, pushed the car door open, and got out.
Mikele walked beside him. When they passed the village’s gossip group, Mikele held his head high, not a bit embarrassed or ashamed, like a general who had won a battle.
He was hopping and skipping ahead of Adrien, who was looking at his phone behind him, walking a little slower.
He was looking at the investigation results sent by his subordinate just now.
The people he had sent out had almost finished their investigation.
Eight doses of those medicines were sold in the first year. The first person to buy the medicine was in April, and the last one to buy it was in July, three months apart.
In the second year, eleven doses were sold from June to August.
The third year, which was last month, the most medicine was sold. The exact number had not yet been determined, but it was over twenty. Most of them were repeat customers.
Looking at the statistics of the transaction time and the table, a bad premonition gradually arose in Adrien’s heart.
That person used to be carefree, selling his medicine as if he was slowly selecting his customers. He sold eight doses in three months, eleven doses in two months, and now twenty doses in one month.
He was in such a hurry as if he was short of money.
Adrien’s bad premonition grew heavier. He put away his phone without looking and walked very fast.
To save time, he told Mikele, “Let’s go directly to your uncle’s house you mentioned.”
Mikele was taken aback. He immediately changed direction, although he was a little disappointed.
He almost ran ahead to lead the way.
Mikele’s uncle, he was mentioned, lived at the head of the village, in a low–rise bungalow sandwiched between two double- story buildings on both sides. Mikele said they had spent all their money on medical treatment, so his family was the only one in the village that hadn’t renovated their house.
When entering the door, one could see cured meat and dried fish hanging from the beams with bamboo hooks.
The chickens and ducks paced back and forth in the courtyard. A big yellow dog was tied up under a small shed. When it saw a stranger coming in, it stood up and barked at them. The iron chain around its neck rattled as it pulled on it. The chickens and ducks, which had been peaceful before, were also frightened and fluttered away.
As soon as they entered the door, two people came out, both of whom were acquaintances.

Chapter 333
When they saw Adrien, they hurriedly asked, “Mr. Holmes, why are you also here?”

Adrien didn’t answer. After walking out with the two of them, he found a place to stand and asked, “What did you find out?”
Three of them stood behind the house, all tall. Mikele, who followed them, only reached their waists,
Mikele also looked up curiously. His bright eyes were impossible to ignore.
Adrien wanted to light a cigarette but paused and put the cigarette back when he saw Mikele,
“It’s not looking good. The family we just visited said they heard the medicine seller say he would be leaving this place when they met him three days ago.”
“So the family bought two pills in preparation. I bought one from him for 7,000 dollars”
Then, the man reached into his pocket, took out a small iron box for chewing gum, and handed it to Adrien.
When Adrien opened it, the first thing that wafted out was the minty smell of the original chewing gum, mixed with at refreshing fragrance that felt cool when inhaled.
Adrien closed the lid with a click. He rubbed his fingers on the edge of the box, his eyes looking into the distance as if thinking about something.
Adrien got it when he heard his subordinate say the medicine seller was leaving. Adrien thought, “The medicine seller was raising money for the ticket.
‘He is leaving here to go to another place.
‘He should still use this method to earn money. If he doesn’t want to be discovered, he will choose a place far away from Clearwater Town, a place where no one has heard of his reputation.
‘But he will need more travel expenses.
‘No wonder he is in such a hurry to sell so much this time.
Then one of the men said uncertainly, “Mr. Holmes, I just heard the man of this family say he saw the medicine seller walking in the direction of a mountain over there last year. Shall we go and have a look?”
He lifted his hand to point out the direction to Adrien.
Mikele stood on tiptoe and looked around. Then he turned to look at the three of them, saying happily, “I know. That’s Twinpeak Mountain. There used to be a church on that mountain. I went there when I was a child.”
Upon hearing that there was a church in the mountain, Adrien’s hand paused, and then he patted Mikele on the shoulder. “Can you take us to the church you mentioned?”
“Of course!”
The four of them returned to the entrance of the village and drove
up the mountain.
According to Mikele, there was no road to the mountain before. A few years ago, he was still darting around in the woods when he climbed the mountain with his friends from the village.
Now, a concrete road had been built to the top, saving a lot of trouble.
They got out of the car and walked a short distance to find the church that Mikele had mentioned.
They went in and took a look. There were indeed signs of habitation, but it was clear it had long been deserted.

Chapter 333
The two men searched the room to see if there was anything useful.
Adrien squatted in front of a square plot of land that had been boed behind the house and pinched the soil with his fingers.
It was still wet, and it hadn’t been long since it was turned over.
It should have been within five hours that the things originally planted there were pulled away. There were traces on the ground, and the wet soil that had been turned over had not yet dried.
‘It would have been nice to come a day earlier and block the person here, thought Adrien.
He rubbed the soil open with his fingers. He was about to stand up when he suddenly smelled a strange smell.
It should be the smell of herbs left there.
Adrien was stunned, then slowly put the hand that had just touched the soil under his nose.
It was an herbal scent he couldn’t name, but it seemed familiar.
He had a hunch that the clue would be particularly important.
However, just as he was trying desperately to remember, it was like a blackout, and he couldn’t recall it.
Just then, someone called him from behind, “Sir”
Mikele, who had also been wandering around the church. He came to find Adrien after wandering around for a while.
He probably felt he was more familiar with it, so he wanted to stay by Adrien’s side.
Upon seeing his running figure, Adrien’s broken memory suddenly connected.
A scene was replayed in his mind.
It was in the town when a group of kids from the cafe across the street ran over to take pictures of his car.
Adrien remembered they bumped into a man in a hurry, carrying luggage.
He found it.
“The character, the timing, and the location all match. That man is probably the one that Tinley asked me to find, thought Adrien.
After figuring it out, Adrien’s mood could only be described as regretful.
He thought again, ‘If I had been more perceptive at that time, I would be on my way back to the capital.
