The moment Damon said those words, the walls started moving. The term walls have ears got a whole new meaning as more and more golems appeared out of the walls. These were the same weaker ones, and the group moved to take care of them quickly, each taking their own side.
But the next second, something even more unexpected happened. The walls started moving. "Shit! The golems were just a distraction. Everyone, move to the center now!" Damon’s voice rang loudly, but it was already too late.
As if it had a will of its own, the walls strategically split up the group into six partitions. Damon had already activated Blink, but his skill got interrupted because of some sort of energy ripple from the wall, and he was only able to get to one of the others.
And it was... Aurora.
Damon looked at the priestess, who stared back at him with parted lips. Why did it have to be this woman of all the people?!!
He decided not to think about that right now as he had bigger problems. He immediately opened his system interface to call Mark or Kate, only to find that both of them were greyed out.
Damon would have freaked out on seeing that, except his own name was greyed out as well, along with Sylvara and Nevin. The good thing was that his status screen still showed he had two followers, so he knew nothing should have happened to them.
"Just what the hell is this place?" Damon did not understand what sort of an enemy he could be dealing it. At first, they tried to lock them up, and now they are trying to divine and conquer? It seemed too complicated a strategy for even intelligent beasts.
Heck, beasts were easier to handle. They always had one motive at the end of the day, kill or torture. But this enemy seemed to be hell bent on doing something else. Locking them up!
What sort of an enemy would simply want to lock them up? Just who was watching them, and who was he dealing with? Who was giving the command to all of these golems? Was it a single entity or many?
Damon had many questions, but there was no way to get an answer to any of them simply standing in place. The crimson fire lance once again appeared in his hand. He did not want to use it just yet, but this place had left him no choice.
Before hurling the crimson fire lance, he took out a potion first from his spatial ring and gulped it down.
The moment the potion settled into his bloodstream, Damon’s entire body surged with heat. Crimson veins pulsed under his skin, glowing faintly as the fire lance in his hand roared to life, longer, fiercer, more volatile than before.
Beside him, Aurora gulped. Until now, she was simply standing there like a useless log, but she quickly moved into action. With a small cast, she added a 30% buff to Damon’s attack on top of the extra 20% buff he received from the invigorating potion.
Damon grunted in approval as he quickly thrust the lance forward, aiming at the wall that had split up the group. BOOM! A ridiculous explosion rang out, and unlike at the entrance, in a single hit, this wall gave way.
A huge hole appeared, and Damon immediately dove into it with Aurora in tow. But unexpectedly, they did not find their teammates on the other side. Instead, it was just the same laboratory, now completely destroyed.
