They had been through so much together, so Gideon did not need to doubt their personalities and loyalty.
He believed that they understood the incident’s seriousness and would not mess up because countless lives were related to this incident.
Besides, Nancy was there to help, so there should not be an issue.
Hence, Gideon accompanied Nell without any worries.
The news of Jeff’s death came to them on the third night.
Via the tracking device, they made sure Jeff had returned to the island and was all alone.
Then, they flipped the switch and detonated the bombs.
The explosion did not cause a huge impact. After all, it was an isolated island and Gideon was very cautious about the amount of firepower.
Therefore, apart from Jeff’s death, the island was not inflicted with much damage.
Along with the X-Organization agents, Gregory and Vickie reached the island and that was where they found Jeff’s body in pieces.
No one would have ever imagined that a man who had lived for a thousand years would die in this way, all alone on an unknown island.
Gregory and Vickie came back the next day.
They asked what Gideon planned to do with the body.
Gideon fell silent for a moment before he whispered, “Bury his body together with Zenzen’s body.”
Jeff had hurt many people and done countless bad things throughout his life.
In the end, it was nothing but a crazy dream.
Since living could not let him achieve his dream, then his death could fulfill his dream.
Gregory and Vickie kept quiet as they let Gideon’s subordinates do their job.
Six months later, Nell’s body had finally gotten better.
The facilities of the town in the desert were so inadequate that nobody would want to continue there any longer. After several discussions, they decided to go back to Sean's chateau as they waited for Nell’s body to fully recover before taking a plane back to China.
It was the second day after they went back to the chateau when Nell, Gideon, and the others visited Jeff’s grave.
Jeff and Zenzen met in the desert, so their graves were set there too.
There was no gravestone, only a small dune, as Sean said this was the common burial method here.
The desert and scorching weather would dry out all the moisture in the human body before it would mummify the body and preserve it for a longer time.
Nell could not help but get goosebumps as she imagined the scene.
Gideon was afraid that it would scare her, so he quickly stopped Sean.
Upon realizing that Nell was scared, Sean laughed embarrassedly.
“Don’t be afraid, Nell. Although it sounds creepy, it’s just like the mummies we watched on the television. There’s nothing to be afraid of.”
Nell was speechless.
However, Cathy pinched Sean’s waist and stared at him.
“Just stop.”
Puzzled, Sean scratched the back of his head.
He was trying to teach them some simple scientific facts. What was the matter with that?
The group of them arrived back at the chateau around evening.
Sean’s medical skills were so terrific that Nell’s health had recovered under his treatment.
Hence, Gideon decided to bring Nell back to China tomorrow.
Gregory and Vickie were leaving too because there were still plenty of things to settle in Lin City.
The dinner was lively.
Sean brought out his precious aged wine, but since Nell was pregnant, she could not drink wine, and Cathy was not good at drinking either. Hence, only Gideon and Sean enjoyed it.
The night was full of stars, and they had dinner on the massive balcony on the top floor. The family drank and chatted while they enjoyed the night breeze — it was cozy.
Suddenly, Nell’s cell phone rang.
She took a look and realized that Lizzy was calling her.
Considering that plenty of things had happened recently, Nell and Gideon did not feel safe to let Lizzy and Viemond stay here, and so, they had asked someone to send both of them back to China earlier.
Old Madam Quinton and Old Master Leith had a feeling that something might have happened there, but they did not ask much about the X-Organization.
All they did was ask about Nell’s condition, in which they were relieved when they knew she was alright.
The moment Nell picked up the video call, Lizzy’s cute face immediately appeared on the other side of the screen as she shouted excitedly, “Mommy.”
Nell laughed. “What’re you doing?”
Lizzy showed her sharp and tiny canine teeth.
“I’m reading manga with Viemond. Mommy, when are you and Daddy coming back?”
Hearing his name, Gideon moved his face toward the phone.
His eyes turned soft when he saw the two Little Beanbags on the other side of the screen.
“What time is it now? Why you’re not in your bed?”
Nell stared at him.
“What time? There’s a time difference, and it’s still morning in China.”
Gideon had drunk so much wine that he was a little blurry. Only then did he notice there was a time difference on both sides.
