Spoiled by the President novel Chapter 1058

In fact, he knew everything. He could have told her so but he did not.

He even watched as she investigated it, through hardships and dangers, despite seeing no outcome.

Why?

Nell was reluctant to believe that Gideon would hurt her, but the truth of the matter made her fearful of knowing about it.

She wavered about it for a while until finally, she still decided to believe in Gideon no matter what.

Regardless of what Jeff said, his aim was certainly to ruin Gideon and her relationship.

As such, she could not let him succeed.

On the other end, Gideon was still not aware of what was going on here.

When he arrived in City H, the first thing he found was the mansion in which Jeff had stayed.

Even so, the other party had obviously received the news earlier, because everyone was already gone, leaving the mansion empty when they arrived.

Gideon ordered his people to search through the entire mansion but there was still no clue.

He scowled as he walked up to the second floor.

Once he entered the bedroom, all he saw were iron chains scattered on the floor.

In the middle of the iron chains was a Simmons mattress. One did not have to think to know what it was for.

His expression turned grim.

Gregory had come along with him, and his expression did not look good either.

However, at this point, it was uncertain whether Nell and Cathy were alive or dead. Since they only saw the scene, they were unsure if Nell and Cathy were alright or not.

Other than upsetting the other person more, saying too much would be of no use.

Therefore, Gregory did not say a word but ordered his men to look through the room carefully.

“I just saw some unfinished breakfast in the kitchen downstairs, and the water in the pot was still hot, which means they left not long ago. I’ve already sent my people to chase after them, and I believe we’ll find out very soon.”

Gideon nodded.

He was not someone who lacked wisdom and tact, but two days had passed since Nell disappeared, and there was still no news at all.

Jeff had caught his target and he clearly had the chance to leave, but he did not do so. Instead, they stayed here for a night. It was a no-brainer that Jeff was awaiting their arrival.

While he did not know what Jeff’s purpose was, there was no doubt that Nell was still alive.

Otherwise, if Jeff lost the bargaining chip that could be used to threaten him, then his action this time would be one step short of success.

In spite of the possibility that Nell was still alive in his hands, Gideon tried his best to not think about whether she was suffering or having a hard time, and whether the child in her stomach had been frightened.

All he could do was try his best to restrain his thoughts with logic and reason, so he could stop overthinking for the time being. He believed that Nell’s intelligence would temporarily protect herself from danger while she waited for his rescue.

Just then, something caught his attention.

He saw a fallen colored handkerchief at the corner of the room, which did not look like Nell’s but Cathy’s, who carried it around with her on a daily basis.

He stooped to pick up the handkerchief and saw two words written on the handkerchief in a rough, cursive style, which said “all good.”

As messy as the scribble looked, it was Nell’s handwriting.

He felt a pang in his heart. His restless mood that had been suppressed earlier finally eased slightly.

"They're alright for now."

Gregory also saw the handwriting on the handkerchief and nodded in agreement.

"Yeah, killing someone isn't Jeff's aim. Even if Nell and Cathy died, it won’t do him any good. I have a feeling that he's plotting on something this time."

“Miss Jennings is here, please take a seat.”

He raised his hand and motioned Nell to sit down on the futon opposite him.

Upon seeing the futon beside her feet, Nell frowned imperceptibly.

She did not know if it was her illusion or not, but she felt that many of Jeff’s actions and words were often a little strange.

For instance, he was clearly in his prime, but he was always dressed in an old-fashioned gown.

Moreover, unless it was for offering incense at temples, who still used futons these days?

Did he not care that his legs and feet would be uncomfortable with his legs curled up on the futon?

Nevertheless, she kept all these questions to herself and never asked them.

After Nell obeyed his words and sat down, Jeff raised his hand to pour her a cup of tea and placed it right in front of her.

With a soft smile on that gentle face, he said, “This is a new local tea I just got. Miss Jennings, give it a taste and see how it’s different from the tea in our hometown.”

Nell gazed at the cup on the table. Inside the short white jade cup, the steaming pale yellow tea filled the air with mist, like a deceptive potion.

Sneering, she raised her eyes to stare straight at Jeff.

“I won’t drink this tea. You said that you can make a deal with me, so I came. Mr. Flinders, you’re a man of your word, right?”

Jeff did not mind her not accepting the tea he prepared for her either.

He straightened up the cup in front of him, moved his head from side to side, and blew his tea gently. Then, he raised his hand to cover his face partially while taking a sip.

Nell watched all of this while seated opposite of him and she cursed him secretly.

If one saw this etiquette and did not know, they would have mistaken him for someone who had time-traveled from the past.
