Spoiled by the President novel Chapter 1057

In an instant, the memory in her mind took her back to ten years ago.

At that time, the 18-year-old Nell had just gone to Country F. She had nothing and no one with her, relying only on that small amount of pocket money that her mother had left for her last time to live.

Since it was just pocket money, it was naturally insufficient for her. Given that she was alone abroad, everything from food to accommodation involved money.

So all she could do was work for others.

Fortunately, her senior peer introduced her to a company that was looking for temporary attendants on their cruise ship. Nell went ahead as it did not interfere with her studies.

On that cruise ship, however, Nell seemed to have witnessed something she should not have seen.

As for what it was exactly, she could no longer remember.

It was a faint memory. It felt like she had heard a gunshot or something.

Yet when she woke up after the incident, she had lost three months of memory. Hence she could no longer recall her memories on the cruise ship.

It was precisely because of this that every time Nell tried to recall this piece of memory, she would get a splitting headache as if her whole head was about to explode.

Later on, Nell was reluctant to think about it as it was too painful of an experience for her.

However, as time went on, she started having some weird dreams.

For instance, in her dream, she saw herself getting tied up in a rope by someone and got thrown off the cruise ship.

She also dreamed that a man was swept away by the whirlpool in the sea when he was trying to rescue her.

Sometimes, that man was Gideon, but sometimes, it was another stranger’s face.

Nell did not know what had caused this, but she thought that this could be due to her emotional over-dependency on Gideon, which made her consciously think that the person trying to rescue her was Gideon.

After all, she had dreamed of other faces several times too.

Seeing that the dream was too weird and peculiar, Nell was perturbed by it.

For that reason, she even went to Country F to investigate this matter.

Unfortunately, she returned to no avail. Later on, she encountered the incident with the Chinese Association, where she and Nancy’s plane was shot down. Not long after they were rescued, their country was in chaos again.

Besides that, there was a long period of time where she no longer dreamt of that dream, so she did not investigate further.

From her point of view, no matter what the truth of that incident was, it was already in the past anyway.

Since she did not manage to discover anything despite giving her all, it was best for her to give up instead.

Nell was quite optimistic about it, but never did she imagine that this matter would come out of another person’s mouth after so many years when she had let go of it completely.

How did Jeff know about it?

As she thought about this question, she could not help but feel a tingle on her scalp, making her hair stand on end.

This was because she had only told Gideon the day before, and no third person knew about it.

It was absolutely impossible for Gideon to reveal this matter to others.

However, Cathy was not as optimistic as she was.

She shook her head and said worriedly, “From what I’ve observed, someone like Jeff wouldn't do anything that would make him get the short end of the stick. Since he used this incident to coerce you, who knew if Gideon was really…

"Even if he didn't do anything, the condition he wants you to accept is definitely not an easy one. Nell, no matter what, this incident is already in the past. Don't ruin your future just for the sake of your past, it's not worth the candle."

It could not be denied that as someone who had died once, although her mind was not the brightest on usual days, Cathy had led her life with a clear head.

After Nell heard what she said, she became silent for a while.

Then, she finally nodded her head.

“I know, Mom. Don’t worry, I’m not that foolish.”

In fact, even though she said so, she compared herself to Cathy in her mind.

That was because she trusted Gideon completely.

Thus, she assumed Jeff must have been lying. Even if Gideon had really crossed paths with her back then, it was definitely not him who tried to kill her. There might be some misunderstanding in this.

As she thought of this, her face took on quite a ghastly expression.

Despite all of this, whether it was a misunderstanding or the truth, there was one thing that was undeniable.

That was, if what Jeff was true — that she and Gideon had crossed paths ten years ago — then why did Gideon not stop her when she had gone to investigate the matter in the last few years?
