Spoiled by the President novel Chapter 1054

Despite that, the entire surrounding sank into silence.

Jeff did not appear at all.

Cathy already knew that Nell would hurt someone all of sudden. So even though this was not a surprise, she was still a little nervous.

She looked around blankly. Seeing that no one appeared, she said softly, “Nelly, are they not here? How about we leave now?”

Nell furrowed her brows.

Before she could speak, they heard a very soft, mocking laugh from out of nowhere.

“Miss Jennings, do you think you can threaten me with a servant’s life? You might as well try and strangle her to see if I’d let you go.”

Taken aback, Nell turned her head to look outside the window.

Only then did she discover a small speaker on the huge tree opposite the window.

She rolled her eyes, speechless.

She had always known that Jeff had installed surveillance cameras in the house to monitor her, but she did not expect him to have installed a speaker.

Since he could hear everything, Nell did not want to give up so easily.

Therefore, she did not let go of her hostage. Instead, she said coldly, “She’s your servant. Aren’t you afraid that if she dies, your people will be afraid of you? How about this? I don’t demand that you let me go. As long as you’re willing to meet me in person and tell me your purpose of keeping me here, then I’ll let her go.”

Nell also knew that it was impossible to demand Jeff to let her go, given the hostage’s mere identity as a servant.

With that thought, she raised another condition that would be relatively easy to fulfill.

However, even with this condition, Jeff did not agree with that either.

Jeff’s light chuckle came from the speaker, which sounded so much like mockery.

“I’ve said it before. I’ll tell you when the time is right. But before this, you behave yourself while you stay here, don’t try to escape, let alone plan something. Any of your efforts will be futile here.”

After he was done speaking, he instructed the servant, “Bring Miss Jennings to the bathroom.”

Trembling, the servant responded before she raised her eyes and looked at Nell in panic, pleading.

After all, Nell was not like Jeff who did not take human life seriously.

It was merely an attempt earlier and she had never thought of hurting the servant for real.

Seeing that Jeff did not buy her idea, she could only let the servant go and follow her to the bathroom.

Once she was out of the bathroom, she went back to the room and said abruptly, “Mr. Flinders, since you already know that I can’t escape, then there’s no need for a chain to lock me up, right? I’m a pregnant woman anyway. Not only is my physical health important, but my mental health is of concern as well. If you keep me locked up like that, who knows if I might get sick one day? And by the time Gideon comes to us, how do you plan to explain to him?”

She said this in a half-joking and half-serious tone.

In fact, she never expected Jeff to agree.

However, he pondered for a bit before he spoke to himself seemingly, “I initially wanted to keep you in chains because I was afraid you might be overwhelmed and do something that would hurt yourself. But based on your current condition, you seem pretty optimistic, so letting it loose is fine too.”

He then ordered the servant, “You don’t have to keep her in chains anymore.”

Stunned, the servant answered quickly and respectfully, “Yes, sir.”

As Nell raised her eyebrows, a rare smile appeared on her face.

“In that case, thank you.”

There was no reply from the other side anymore.

After setting down their breakfast, the servant left the room.

Nell walked toward the dining table and seated herself nicely. When she saw that Cathy was still standing there, she stood up and brought her to the dining table.

She narrowed her eyes.

By the sea?

She did not recall the city that Cathy previously resided in to be near any sea.

Perhaps she was not very familiar with the city, so she could not be sure. With that, she retracted her gaze quietly before she turned around to look at Cathy and gestured to her.

Cathy acknowledged it and walked toward her. Giving Nell a hand, the two of them then walked to the chair and sat down.

It was a long cushioned chair that could accommodate the two of them at once.

When they sat down, Nell lied down and said loudly, “I’m tired. Let’s rest for a while.”

Cathy nodded. “You go to sleep. I’ll lie here with you.”

As soon as she said that, Cathy lied down with her.

The two of them lied there quietly just like that. From the view of the surveillance camera, it did not seem like there was any interaction between them.

In reality, Nell was asking Cathy in a soft voice, “Mom, I saw the sea outside the window. Do you remember if there was any sea near where you lived?”

Cathy frowned imperceptibly and whispered, “No, it was all desert. Other than the Fairy River, there was no sea at all.”

Nell’s heart sank.

No sea?

Did that mean that they were no longer in the same city?

As if Cathy had realized this too, the look on her face changed slightly.

However, she knew this place very well, and a short while later, she thought of something.
