During this period of time, he traveled around only to relieve his boredom.
He never even thought about Jeff’s purpose on a deeper level.
Perhaps not that it did not cross his mind because it did, but his intuition then told him that it was a danger so he did not dare to dwell on it again.
That was why he felt so stupid when Gideon asked him.
Shimon looked at Gideon, lost.
Gideon was not in a hurry either, so he just waited quietly for him to speak.
After a long time, Shimon finally shook his head with a look of distress. “I don’t know, I really don’t know why he took the Arcane Jade!”
Gideon said faintly, “I too believe that Mr. Flinders knows nothing about it. But now that this incident has happened and we’re aware of it, I still hope that Mr. Flinders won’t just care about himself and neglect the others. If possible, let’s investigate this together. After all, if Jeff really has any ulterior motives, the Flinders family will be affected by then and I’m afraid Mr. Flinders won’t be an exception either.”
When Shimon heard that, he gave a disappointed smile.
“You probably don’t know yet, but I’ve been kicked out of my family. So in the future, whether my family is alive or dead, it has nothing to do with me.”
Gideon raised his eyebrows in surprise.
He did not expect that Shimon would be kicked out of the family.
He pondered for a while before he said in a deep voice, “In that case, I won’t force you any further. Thank you for telling me all of this, Mr. Flinders. If there’s a chance in the future, I’ll return the favor.”
As soon as he was done saying that, he stood up.
Shimon stood up as well.
Shimon gave it a thought and in the end, he added, “I’ll try my best to investigate the whereabouts of Mrs. Leith. But this man Jeff Flinders, if he really has something to hide, I’m afraid it’ll be tough to find him, so don’t put such high hopes onto it.”
Gideon paused in his steps without turning his head.
Only a moment later did he say softly, “Thank you.”
After that, he strode out.
The old wooden door made a squeaking sound, and just like that, the man was gone with the night wind while Shimon stood inside, gazing at the leaving silhouette. He stood there quietly for a long, long time.
Gideon got into the car once he walked out of Fairy Palace.
The driver turned around and asked, “Mr. President, where are we heading to now?”
Gideon thought for a while before he said, “Let’s go back to the chateau.”
“Sure.”
With that, the car engine started and moved in the direction of the chateau.
Sitting in the car, Gideon looked as the scenery passed him at high-speed and narrowed his eyes slightly.
His fingers were subconsciously twisting the wedding ring on his ring finger, which Nell had slid on for him when they got married.
In the cool night, the corner of his mouth tugged upward slightly with a hint of mockery, resembling an eagle in the dark.
‘Jeff Flinders, now you’ve shown your true colors.
I have tracked you down for so many years, and I knew all along that you’re different from the ordinary people. But I did not expect you to have such a background. A human from a thousand years ago… No wonder. I could’ve caught you ten years ago but you covered it up. Back then I did not know you were a part of the Flinders family, but now that I do… Hmph!’
Gideon took out the wedding ring from his ring finger and only then, in the night, did he notice that the color of the diamond on the wedding ring had suddenly changed its color. The blood-red color was like a dazzling gem in the dark, gleaming so brightly.
He pressed the diamond gently with varying levels of pressure.
At the same time, in an iron-gray building tens of thousands of miles away, a group of people looked at the code that suddenly appeared on the computer screen and shouted in surprise.
After last night, she had it figured out that instead of being frightened and constantly scaring herself, she might as well calm down.
After all, Jeff had no intention to harm her thus far. As long as she remained calm and learned about Jeff’s intention, there was still leeway for everything.
By thinking this way, Nell no longer felt anxious.
The servant had heard that they were awake, so she brought breakfast in.
Nell did not refuse either. Once the servant set their breakfast down, she said, “I need to go to the bathroom.”
The servant froze for a moment, seemingly hesitating about what to do.
The servant’s expression changed upon hearing that.
She responded in an instant, “Please hold on a second, I’ll ask for permission.”
Soon, she came back with a bunch of keys in her hand.
“Please wait, I’m unlocking the bathroom door for you now.”
Cathy stood by the side and looked at her.
Startled, the servant did not dare say a word, but could only stand there stiffly.
Nell gazed at the surveillance camera in front as she said in a deep voice, “Jeff Flinders, no matter what your intention is, let us go now! Or else, I’ll strangle her to death.”
She exerted even more force in her hand, choking the servant to the point that her eyes had turned white.
