Spoiled by the President novel Chapter 1048

Nell could not help but gloomily frown.

She looked at the tea that the maids brought and kept thinking that something was in there.

The maid was nice and soft-spoken when she saw her sitting there unmoving. “Miss Jennings, your tea.”

There was no need to shoot the messenger since the maid did nothing wrong.

Nell said coldly, “Leave it there.”

Frankly, she did not even spare the cup a glance.

The maid pursed her lips, not daring enough to say anything more, and placed the cup down before leaving.

Only Nell was left in the room and she sat there, not making any rash moves while she scanned the room. It was decorated lavishly but not overdone.

She counted at least four cameras that she could see with her naked eye.

What the f*ck was Jeff Flinders up to?

Nell was not stupid. Jeff was someone very powerful, there was no way in hell that he would capture her and chain her up just for the fun of it.

Yes, she was Gregory and Vickie’s friend, but she had no connection to Jeff Flinders whatsoever, he had nothing to gain from this. The Leith Corporation and the Flinders family had even less of a connection, there were no business aspects involved.

That begged the question, just what was he plotting?

While Nell was trying to piece the puzzle together, a weeping voice came from the other side of the door.

“Nelly…”

Nell snapped her head up, instantly recognizing the voice. “Mom, I’m here!”

“Nelly!” Cathy ran in while sobbing.

Perhaps it was because Cathy was older and did not know how to fight that Jeff did not put her on high surveillance. At least, it seemed that way from her freedom to move around unchained.

Cathy looked like she had found her long lost sibling when she saw Nell and immediately cupped her face and patted her up and down. “Nelly?! Oh my god, are you okay?”

Nell shook her head. “I’m fine.”

She also quickly checked if Cathy was alright and finally relaxed when she looked unhurt.

“Mom, are you ok? Did they hit you? Do you feel uncomfortable?”

“No, I’m alright.”

She said that but her body was shaking slightly. Nell knew that sudden changes would subconsciously trigger unpleasant memories for her. She was scared.

Nell softly reassured her, “Mom, don't worry, I’m here. We’ll be fine.”

Cathy nodded but asked with teary eyes, “Nelly, who are they? Why did they bring us here?”

Nell pursed her lips. Should she tell Cathy?

If she kept quiet, she would worry even more. Nell grit her teeth.

“They… they’re the people I mentioned to you before. The ones that threatened Gregory and Vickie, the ones that are after the Heavenly Jade Silk.”

Cathy remembered this story, she told her while they were still in Country T.

Cathy thought to herself and noticed the chains on Nell when she looked down. Her eyes narrowed.

“Nelly, what is this?”

She grabbed the chains, eyes filled with rage. “They can’t do this to you! You’re pregnant! Th-”

Nell did not want her to over-exert herself and tried to calm her, “Mom, I’m fine. They are making sure I can't escape. I’m not completely restricted anyway.”

Cathy flinched and wanted to turn to look but Nell stopped her.

“Don’t look. Pretend you don't know. When you have the chance, secretly take a look.”

Cathy realized what she meant and nodded. With that, the two remained in the room together.

Jeff may not have chained Cathy but there was always someone outside watching them. He said they were maids, but it was obvious to Nell that they were there to keep an eye on them.

Still, she was a pregnant woman, and Cathy was a defenseless elderly lady that could not hurt a fly.

Nell held no hopes of them escaping on their own, so she opted for something different.

By staying level-headed and calm, she wanted to know what Jeff was plotting.

On the other end, Gideon was going insane with panic.

They were so close to going back home, and yet something like this had to happen!
