Understood.”
The driver acknowledged it and turned the car to head in a different direction.
At the same time, on Gideon’s end…
He was in the living room, playing with the kids when the door suddenly burst open.
A blond man stumbled in with unfocused eyes and blood on his head.
He headed straight for Gideon and collapsed in front of him.
“M-mrs. Leith a-and Miss Jennings… in trouble…” the man passed out instantly after speaking.
…
When Nell awoke, she was lying on a huge and luxurious bed.
She felt soreness from the back of her neck and winced.
Nell struggled to sit up, but as soon as she moved her arms and legs, the sound of iron chains clanged.
She paled and turned to see that her limbs were chained with four large iron chains.
One end of the chain wrapped around her wrists and ankles, the other end connected to the walls and floor, just like the chains used in dungeons when prisoners were held in ancient times.
Her heart dropped.
The room was decorated extravagantly in a European style and a gold-white theme. The curtain was wide open, showing her the night sky.
Nell’s brain immediately flooded with questions.
Where was she?
What happened?
The last thing she remembered was being in the car and someone suddenly sticking a needle into her neck from under the seat.
Cathy was also struck with the same needle.
Wait, where was Cathy?
Nell frantically looked around her, but she was the only one there.
Cathy was gone!
Once she noticed, Nell panicked and started thrashing to sit up and screamed, “Mom! Mom, where are you?!
“Is anyone here?! Who are you people? Why did you bring me here?!
“You have the balls to kidnap me but have no balls to show your face?!
“What do you want? Money?! Just say it and I’ll give it to you! Just let my mom go!”
Nell screamed for a long time but no response came.
The vast, empty room seemed to only house her. When she screamed, she could faintly hear her echoes.
Nell looked slightly worse for wear.
She had no idea what was happening except for the fact that she was kidnapped.
Who was behind this? What did they want?
Regardless, she had to meet the person pulling the strings first.
For now, it seemed that she was just tied to the bed and not taken anywhere else, so they seemed to want her alive.
“Thank you?” Nell laughed out loud, her voice void of emotion.
She gestured to the chains on her. “You chain me up and expect me to thank you? Jeff Flinders, the way you think resembles a serial killer, don't think that everyone else is as twisted as you.”
Nell’s words were scalding and unforgiving, but Jeff was unfazed.
Nell was seething at how calmly he rebutted her. It was like she was trying to punch the air around her, it pissed her off to no end.
Jeff was airtight with his information as he spoke, rendering Nell unable to get any answers.
She had to settle for glaring hatefully at him.
“Where. Is. My. Mother? What have you done to her?”
Jeff smiled amicably, “Worry not, Miss Morrison is your esteemed mother, so of course, we would treat her with the utmost respect. She’s sleeping downstairs. I will bring her to you when she wakes up.”
With that, he barked out an order, “Someone bring Miss Jennings some tea.”
The maids outside acknowledged the order and scrambled off.
Jeff paused to see if Nell had anything to say and then left.
After he left, some maids did come in to bring her tea.
Nell’s arms and legs may have been chained but they were long chains that did not restrict her from moving them or eating and drinking.
He did this on purpose. This was so that there was no excuse for him to set her free.
