Chapter 10
Gemini’s POV
“Has he introduced you to his kingdom yet?” Gavin’s question seemed to divert from our original conversation and it caused me to feel a little bit of discomfort.
He seemed to noticed that and immediately apologized, “I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to switch topics like that… I was just curious.”
“Well no! If that helps. He hasn’t.”
Gavin’s eyes grew wider, hinting at his surprise. “No?” He said as if trying to make me repeat my words, but when I rolled my eyes sadly in response, he knew I was dead serious.
“But wait, isn’t it over a week already?”
I sighed in confirmation of his words, “I just don’t get it-” I set my phone on the headboard, taking a more comfortable position. “Sometimes, I sit back and wonder why he paid such a huge amount to take me…”
Another sigh escaped my lips as I ran my fingers through my hair, trying to make sense of my thoughts. “I mean, he hasn’t even made any advances,” I blurted out, the words tumbling from my lips before I could stop them.
There was silence on Gavin’s end of the line, and the moment it hit me what I had just said, my face heated up. “Wait! No, that’s not what I meant,” I said quickly, sitting upright.
But it was too late. Gavin’s laugh was already echoing through the speaker, full of mischief. “Oh, Gemini,” he teased, dragging my name out in that playful tone of his. “Are you actually complaining about the Lycan King not making a move? Craving his touch already, are we?”
“What?!” I sputtered, my face turning an even deeper shade of red. “No, absolutely not! That’s not what I meant, and you know it, Gavin!”
He laughed even harder, clearly enjoying my flustered state. “Sure, sure. You’re totally not wondering why a tall, brooding, super–rich Lycan King hasn’t swept you off your feet yet.”
I groaned and flopped back onto the bed, pulling a pillow over my face to muffle my frustration. “Can you stop being such an idiot for once? I was just saying it’s weird, that’s all. He pays fifty million for me, buys me fancy dresses and then… nothing. No explanation, no reason why I’m here. It’s like I’m just… existing in his house.”
“Uh–huh,” Gavin replied, and I could practically hear the grin in his voice. “Existing and secretly wishing he’d come knocking on your door in the middle of the night.
“Of course not!” I snapped, though the heat in my cheeks betrayed me.
“Really?” Gavin tilted his head, pretending to examine me. “Then why do you look like a tomato whenever it’s being mentioned? Hmm? Could there be another explanation for that?”
I rolled my eyes at him, knowing fully well that I had no way out of this except- “You know what? Goodbye, I’ve heard enough of your shenanigan for one day. I said before hurriedly disconnecting the call.
“Ma’am,” I heard almost immediately after I dropped the call. “Dinner is served!”
I sighed, knowing fully well what awaited me. “Can I have it in my room instead?”
