Chapter 1
Gemini’s POV
The headlines of the news left me frozen-
A female reporter in formal attire stood, a mic to her mouth. “It has been confirmed that the CEO of Wilson’s Corporation and Alpha of Moonrock Pack, Alpha Harvey Wilson has passed away due to complications from a tragic car accident.”
After his accident a week ago—”
The rest of her words blurred the more I tried to listen. All I could think of was Pierre Wilson, Alpha Harvey’s only son, my childhood bestie and crush.
The news must have reached him too. Oh poor Pierre, he was his father’s favourite.
I picked up my phone and quickly dialled my twin brother’s number. I had thought to dial Pierre first, but I doubt he’d be reachable at this time. He was always one to shut everyone out when things weren’t going too well with him.
The phone rang for a long while before he finally answered. “Hey, Gem!”
Gavin, I saw the news… Why did no one tell me that our Alpha is dead?” I queried.
I could hear him sigh heavily before replying, “I’m sorry, but Mom asked to keep it from you till you’re done with your papers.”
I let out a heavy sigh, still trying to process the news.
“Alpha Harvey was like a father to me, Gavin. He always checked on me, offered advice, and believed in me. He’s the reason I’m where I am today.” My voice cracked.
Gavin’s tone softened. “I know, sis. He was special. But you have to focus on your exam today. It’s your last paper, remember? Alpha Harvey would want you to ace that paper.”
I nodded, even though he couldn’t see me. “I’m so devastated, but I would try… I will try my best.”
“Stay well okay?” His voice sounded dismissive as if the call was coming to an end.
“Gavin wait! Has anyone heard from Pierre?”
There was a pause before Gavin responded. “Not yet. He returned three days ago, but hasn’t spoken to anyone ever since.”
I squeezed my eyes briefly, trying to remain calm despite my inner turmoil.
Gavin and I exchanged a few more words before ending the call.
As soon as we hung up, I quickly booked the next available flight to Northern California.
My mind raced with memories of Alpha Harvey – his warm smile, encouraging words, and guidance. Alpha Harvey was the father I never had.
I couldn’t imagine Pierre’s pain.
Determined to be there for my childhood friend, I gathered my belongings and headed to the examination hall.
My exam was a blur, but I pushed through, knowing I had to get to Pierre.
As soon as I finished, I rushed out of the hall and made my way to the airport. To add to the tension growing inside of me, my flight was delayed by two hours.
During the wait, I sent Pierre a text: “Pierre, I’m so sorry about your loss. I’m on my way to Northern California, Can’t wait to see you.”
Boarding announcements echoed through the airport speakers.
I stood, grabbed my bag, and joined the line.
The flight attendants welcomed me with a gentle smile.
As the plane took off, I stared out the window, thoughts consumed by Pierre and the memories we shared with Alpha Harvey.
Landing in Northern California felt like an eternity.
PM
Chapter 1
I hailed a taxi and headed straight to the Wilson estate also known as Moonrock Pack (to the werewolves).
The familiar driveway brought back memories of laughter and late–night conversations with Pierre.
My heart ached, thinking of the pain he must be going through.
The taxi stopped in front of the grand entrance.
I paid the fare, took a deep breath, and stepped out.
I steeled myself and walked toward the gigantic structure of the Alpha’s Lair, situated in the middle of the Estate.
The door swung open before I could knock.
Mrs Wilson, Pierre’s mother was escorted out by two maidens.
“Gemini,” she whispered, embracing me tightly.
I hugged her back, trying to offer comfort.
“Pierre?” I asked, my voice barely above a whisper.
Mrs Wilson’s expression turned sombre.
“He’s..not doing well. I think you should let him be for the meantime.”
My heart sank.
I nodded, “It’s fine, I totally understand his pain. I would be back in the evening to check up on him.”
Darkness took its time, but I was here for Pierre, so I waited patiently.
I spent the day checking my phone for Pierre’s reply, but he didn’t even see the message, talk less of replying to it.
As evening approached, I made my way back to the Alpha’s Lair.
A familiar scent hit my nose, “Lavender tea?” I asked.
“Yes ma’am, the young master asked for it.” The maid headed upstairs with the silver tray in her hands.
“Erhm… Can I take that to him instead?”
She paused for a second before answering, “Sure!”
I was in the middle of the hallways when a sweet fragrance hit me. It smelled better than anything I had ever perceived in my life.
“Hmm…” Elsie, my wolf moaned.
“You smell it too?” Elsie responded with a tail wag.
Elsie’s voice echoed in my mind, “Gemini, that’s our mate.”
My heart skipped a beat. “What? No, Elsie, it can’t be.”
Elsie insisted, “I’m certain, Gemini. That scent is unmistakable,”
I pushed aside the thought, focusing on seeing Pierre.
As I approached his door, the sweet fragrance intensified.
Elsie purred, “See, Gemini? Our mate is nearby.”
I knocked twice, but there was no response.
The scene before me made my world crash, and so did the tray in my hands.

Pierre’s eyes narrowed. “Look how you messed the floor up… Just leave already.”
No sorry.
No Hi.
Tears streamed down my face as I turned to leave. But I couldn’t bear the pain.
‘Pierre, can we just talk about this when you are sober-” I whispered, but my voice was cut off.
There’s nothing to talk about,” He said plainly, slamming the door in my face.
