Her eyes crinkled as she giggly swiped her phone while lying on the bed.
"Sis, sis, sis. Aren’t you full of surprises?" Ruby’s grin was wide, thinking about her sister and also spotting the number that she wanted.
"I can’t sleep without tattling. Let this dear younger sister tell the parents of such good news!" a grin was on her face as she imagined how her parents would react upon learning such news.
Without any further delay, she hurriedly dialed her mother’s phone and after several rings, Ma Perry’s voice sounded, [Dear!]
A smile blossomed on her face upon hearing her mother’s beautiful voice.
"Mom. How was your day today? Busy?" she asked coyly, a hint of playfulness in her tone.
[Hehe, the day was great though a bit busy. The renovations are nearly done. Starting next month should be opening.]
Ruby’s eyes brightened when she heard that.
"Really? That’s good news, Mom! I guess that when we come to that side, we can hang around the restaurant for a bit!"
[You will. Anyway, was there anything urgent? Your mother is dead tired and wants to rest. We must wake up early!] Ma Perry’s voice had a tinge of fatigue in it. Ruby couldn’t help but notice that.
"Um ..." she cleared her throat as she started organizing her words considering what she was about to do.
[Dear, you ..... what is it?] Ma Perry’s voice sounded worried as she asked and Ruby felt a bit guilty as she scratched her nose.
"Mom ... hehe, there is no problem. Just that .... Um .... I wanted to share some news with you. I just couldn’t help myself."
[Phew~ you nearly startled me there. Tell your mother. What is it?] Ma Perry asked curiously and there was a tinge of urgency in her voice.
Ruby chuckled helplessly when she heard that but still answered, "Mom, it’s about sis!"
[Diamond! What did she do?] Ma Perry exclaimed, and Ruby could hear her father’s voice the moment her mother did that.
Ruby shook her head, wondering if her parents were imagining that Diamond was up to something sneaky again.
"Hehe, she just found you the first son-in-law," she chuckled slyly as she revealed the matter to the parents and exaggeratedly shared what happened and how those two were interacting.
[Is that real? Haha, finally. I was dying to know when your sister would finally have someone. So, he is handsome?]
"Very handsome and generous. I saw the way he was looking at her. He is infatuated. I don’t think that this time we will have a scammer like those two. Humph!"
[We hope so. Anyway, with a mother like Auntie Grace, I don’t think that he will turn out bad, right?]
Ruby sighed as she rolled on the bed until she was facing the ceiling and responded, "If they scam her, I am afraid that sis might eradicate the whole family this time around."
[Hehe, they will be deserving of it. Who dares mistreat our jewel?]
Ruby’s lips curled when she heard that, not finding that remark infuriating at all.
"Okay, don’t be angry. You rest and take care."
[Okay, dear. Don’t forget to rest yourself. Don’t overdo it. Just write your exams peacefully without any pressure. Okay?]
Ruby felt warm as she saw that her parents remembered that she was writing.
"Don’t worry, Mom and Dad. I will do my best without pressurizing myself."
[That’s good. Anyway, don’t tell your sister that we know. We will wait to see when she will tell us!]
Ruby’s eyes narrowed when she heard that, and she had a sly smile on her face as she wondered when her sister would do as well.
After exchanging a few more words with her parents. She finally hangs up, a smile on her face.
"I wonder when I can also date!" she sighed helplessly, thinking about her own heart before shuddering with fear as she recalled how heartbroken she was because of Waylon a while ago.
She patted her cheeks as she rolled back to her belly and mumbled, "Let us not focus on love right now. Money is the best lover to be with!" thinking about the stability that money brings in life.
After a moment of playing on the bed, Ruby decided that it was time to prepare for bed, but before she could sleep, a message was received.
Curious about who the sender was, she reached out for her phone and checked the message straight away.
The moment she saw the sender, a helpless smile blossomed on her face as she muttered to herself, "How can he be so persistent!" completely unaware of how her tone sounded doting at that very moment.
[Sean: Hey beautiful! Are you sleeping yet?]
[I am about to. What’s up?]
She had been chatting with Sean on friendly levels without breaking that thin wall. They could be considered friends of some sort and she found him quite nice to chat with.
[Sean: Good. I just wanted to wish you all the best on your first exams tomorrow. Are you up for it?]
[Don’t worry. I might fail at other things, but when it comes to academics, I am quite a genius!] there was bragging in her words. Even Sean could see them.
