She was nervous as she checked for the umpteenth if everything was organized perfectly.
It’s been a while since her sister visited her at home and they actually had a chat there. The last time, her sister came, she wasn’t there, but this time, it was different.
Not only that, but Diamond was going to bring a potential brother-in-law. How could she not be nervous?
Ding. Dong.
The doorbell rang, freezing her in place at the realization that her sister had just arrived.
’Take a deep breath, Ruby!’ she cheered herself as she patted her chest calmly to wash away any nervousness.
Moments later, she confidently walked towards the door with a smile and unlocked the door.
She pulled the door handle towards her and voila, the person she had been itching to see in person, appeared in her view.
"Sis!" she beamed brightly as she looked at her low-key sister who still remained beautiful, loving how she looked no matter what.
Diamond smiled back at Ruby, whose eyes were sparkling, and responded, "You seem happy!"
Ruby stuck her tongue playfully at Diamond as she opened the door wide, answering, "Seeing you, how can I not be happy?"
Diamond chuckled to hear that before turning her head to the side, gesturing for the other person to move closer.
Ruby nervously looked behind her sister, filled with indescribable anticipation.
She had never seen Gael’s photos before, although she had seen his mother. She didn’t know what he looked like and whether he was the kind of guy her sister would like. After all, her sister didn’t care much about money, since she was certain that no guy would be richer than her. The guys she would fall for should be taller than her and, above all, handsome.
So, what kind of man was Gael?
The answer to that was given seconds later when the man in question appeared.
’OMG!’ she exclaimed inwardly as she looked at Gael who was truly very pleasant in the eyes.
He was quite tall, and those glasses on him made him look heavenly. He was the lean type, without too many muscles bulging. Something about his face made him look a bit innocent. Perhaps it was because he was still young or whatnot, but after seeing him, she could now understand why her sister continued talking with him.
He ticked all the boxes her sister set.
"Hello, there!" Gael greeted with a shy smile stretching his hand towards Ruby.
"Hello, brother-in-law," she greeted flatteringly, hiding the embarrassment of gawking at him.
Gael’s eyes sparkled when he heard that. His smile widened as he responded, "It’s a pleasure to finally meet you, sister-in-law."
Ruby brightened when she heard that and happily chuckled. "Haha, the pleasure is all mine."
Diamond watched on the side. The two exchanged flatteries and chuckled helplessly as she entered the house.
When Ruby saw that, she shyly chuckled at Gael and said, "Let’s get inside, bro. Sis should be getting hungry!" her gaze landed slightly on the gift bag in his hand.
Gael smiled at Ruby as he nodded in response. "She should be!" his gaze shifting to the back of Diamond.
Ruby’s eyes sparkled as she watched Gael’s attentive side and how his gaze lingered more on Diamond and not on her.
She was satisfied with Gael, though she planned to continue observing him.
The two followed Diamond. The door was closed and everyone made themselves feel at home.
Once seated, Ruby started serving the dishes as she merrily chatted with the guests.
"Did you travel safely? What is it like living there? Don’t you miss home?" she was more interested in learning more about Gael than her sister and Diamond let her be.
Gael was very cooperative and answered as much as he could without feeling much pressure. He didn’t have anything to hide, anyway.
When food was served, Ruby joined the two and the three of them started eating the food.
As they ate the food, Ruby’s eyes continued sneaking, shifting between the two. She wasn’t sure if the two were dating yet or still sizing each other.
As she was busy snooping around, Diamond raised a glass of juice to her mouth and as she did so, Ruby found herself looking at her hand just briefly and the fork in her hand fell on the table.
Ruby relievedly sighed and flashed a grin at Gael, saying, "Brother-in-law, welcome to the family." Happy that her sister finally had someone to love and added inwardly, ’I hope you last longer than the last ones!’
