Diamond went to the study where she initiated a call to the number that the person who contacted her left for her on that platform.
The phone rang a few times before it was answered.
[Hello, Grandmaster Perry. Thank you for getting back to us on such short notice.]
Diamond’s eyes widened as she listened to this new kind of greeting. It was the title before her surname, which startled her a bit.
She was used to being called Miss, Lady or Boss. Being called grandmaster, now, was something new, and it made her heart race and pump wildly. She felt recognized and respected by the nation. She felt smug for a moment.
"Um. Thank you for reaching out. What is it that you want to speak to me about?" she asked directly, without beating around the bush.
She didn’t even know who she was speaking to, and the other person wasn’t her friend. The sooner she knows what the other person wants, the better it will be for her.
[Firstly, we are sorry for disturbing you around this time. We were hoping to make an appointment. Our chief would like to meet you in person, that is, if you are free.]
When Diamond heard that, her brows rose, wondering what this chief person wanted.
"If you want to meet me, I am too busy to leave the city now. If the chief is really interested in seeing me as soon as possible, that is this March, then I am afraid that he or she can come to this side. Is it possible?"
[It’s fine. The chief can come over. You have the marathon on the 25th, so we can’t disturb you before then. What do you think about the 26th? Is it possible to meet?]
Diamond wasn’t surprised anymore by how these people seemed to know about her itinerary. With how she was popular, at least in her country, it would be disappointing if this organization didn’t know anything.
She was glad, however, that they were considerate. Other people would just force matters, but in their case, understanding that she had a marathon to run and prepare for, they didn’t want to disturb that.
"It’s fine. You pick the place and tell me before the date. And tell your chief that I would appreciate it if my information is kept safe without any leaking. As you can see, I kind of enjoy living my life leisurely without being a target," she couldn’t help but remind me.
Whilst she doesn’t fear thieves aiming for her money, she fears people like her who could do anything to get what they want.
If something like what happened with the twins happened again, she would be forced to shed some blood. And that wasn’t how she pictured herself living in the future.
She would flaunt money but not kill recklessly. If she becomes a target suddenly, it would put her in a tight spot.
[I will pass the message to the chief.]
Diamond and the representative chatted for a bit before the call ended.
When it ended, Diamond looked sullen for a moment. After a while, she opened her mouth and instructed Andrea, "darling. Look into the organization. I need to know everything that can be found about the people there. The dynamics, hierarchy, who belongs to which party, and so forth."
These special organizations, it wouldn’t be surprising to find them with so many conflicts. She didn’t want to be drawn to a side, only to be caught in a fire she didn’t even ask for.
She wanted to live peacefully. So being prepared early would be helpful.
