“I had ulterior motives for you. Do you think he wouldn’t dare
to do anything to you like this? Adelaide, if there’s a next time, if
he takes you away before I arrive. I may not be able to rescue
you in time, trouble that could be avoided, why do you have to
go near him?”
Adelaide was caught off guard when he suddenly blurted out
his attitude like that.
“Adelaide, speak,” Reginald snapped.
“That was Teresa’s flower shop,” she explained.
The man chuckled, “Three women trying to take down a few
bodyguards, Adelaide, should I say you trust your besties too
much or you’re just too confident in yourself.”
Adelaide turned her face away to look out the car
window again, saying, “I can’t argue with that, he’s always
right.”
The car went straight back to Rosecliff Manor.
Reginald was walking very fast, and Adelaide saw him already in the hallway as soon as she got off the car. Draven was standing at the door, smiling at her, “Ms. Pierce, come on in,

dinner is ready“”
Faced with the invitation from her elders, Adelaide was a bit
embarrassed. She politely said, “Draven, I have to go back and
pack my suitcase.”
“Eating won’t take long, and I even asked the kitchen to make
Ms. Pierce’s portion.” Draven waved kindly, “Come on, Ms.
Pierce.”
Adelaide really couldn’t refuse, so she had to grit her teeth and
go in.
Reginald didn’t eat much before he got a phone call and went
upstairs. Adelaide thought he would come back down to eat,
but he never did, even after she finished eating.
Was he angry?
When Draven was clearing the tableware, he casually said, “Mr.
Thorton is like that, if he gets interrupted during a meal, he
won’t be interested in eating anymore.”
Adelaide was surprised, “Isn’t this bad for your stomach?”
“Oh, you bet! But Mr. Thorton is as strong as an ox, he gets a
check–up every year.”
Is your body made of Iron?
Chapter 74
He had a high fever yesterday.
After saying goodbye, Adelaide didn’t want to go upstairs to tell
Reginald, so she asked Draven to help pass on the message, and
then she took a shortcut back to the Sterling Estates with her
suitcase.
On the second floor of the villa, Reginald leaned against the
French window, watching Adelaide’s slow–moving figure walk
away.
No conscience…
Back at the apartment, Adelaide was exhausted by 11 o’clock.
She rolled over and opened WhatsApp, only to realize she
hadn’t accepted Abigail’s friend request yet.
She agreed in just a few seconds, then Abigail unexpectedly
received a voice call.
She scared her.
“Adelaide! How come you only accepted my friend request now!
