Chapter41
Gradually, he clenched his fists, feeling uncomfortable and then
filled with anger. If it weren’t for Finley’s scheme, he wouldn’t
have been in a position where he couldn’t fight back or say
anything. He could have easily won Adelaide back, as if nothing
had ever happened.
He was stood up again.
He was too weak, otherwise he wouldn’t have been taken
advantage of like this.
Jeanette comforted her daughter and threatened, “Garrett, I’m
telling you now. If you dare to not take responsibility for my
daughter, I will not let you off the hook even if it costs me my
life!”
“Don’t worry, the Barnard family will take care of Amanda.
But!” Cornelius stood there, his voice steady and calm, “Adele is
the biggest victim, whether it’s the Barnard family or the Pierce
family, they should compensate her properly.”
Cornelius‘ words touched Adelaide deeply.
Seeing Cornelius still showing pity towards her like an elder,
Adelaide pursed her lips, holding back her emotions.
All along, Cornelius and Evelyn treated her like family caring
and loving.
She thought she was lucky to meet such in–laws, but unfortunately they didn’t become family in the end.
At this point, Cornelius stared at Finley again and said, “Sir Pierce, you just said that both sides of your hands are flesh. Since you’ve taken care of Amanda, shouldn’t you also take care
of Adele?”
Finley felt really uncomfortable hearing that, he didn’t expect Cornelius to take advantage of this opportunity to teach him a lesson. For now, he had to prioritize the bigger picture, so he calmly said, “That’s natural, Adele is my daughter too, I will
make it up to her.”
Compensation? Just some casual talk.
Adelaide didn’t want to see them act anymore, she said,
“Where’s the divorce agreement?”
At this moment, Finley waved his hand and the butler brought
in the divorce agreement.
“Grandpa….” Garrett tried to step forward, but his father grabbed his arm. Faced with his father’s warning gaze, he could only helplessly watch as Adelaide signed the document.
Only Amanda saw her sign the document, couldn’t help but

curve her lips.
Adelaide stood up and said, “See you at the courthouse in at
month.”
“Wife, I don’t want to,” Garrett said, his eyes red, struggling in
his final moments.
Cornelius was livid and wanted to give this troublemaker a
good beating at home. But he still promised Adelaide, “Don’t
worry, Adele, I will personally take him to the courthouse in a
month.”
“Dad!” Garrett shouted in pain.
“Shut up!”
Adelaide left with gratitude, saying, “Thanks Sir Barnard, I
think I’m done here, so I’ll be on my way!”
With that, she turned around and left, leaving the two families
to discuss what to do next.
