Chapter 27
Adelaide smiled more brightly. “You schemed so hard to sleep
with Garrett but still couldn’t make him choose you. You tried
your best to tell Dad what you wanted but still couldn’t get me
kicked out of the Pierce family. You want me dead, but I’m still
here. It must be killing you. All that effort these past few days.
was all for nothing. It must hurt.”
“AAAAHHHH! ADELAIDE, SHUT UP!!” Amanda lost it and
flipped the entire table.
Dishes and cutlery clattered to the floor, but not a single staff
member showed up.
“ADELAIDE! I’M GOING TO RIP YOUR MOUTH OFF!” Amanda
shrieked, lunging at Adelaide like a madwoman.
But Adelaide had already stood when Amanda flipped the table.
She dodged easily again.
At this point, Amanda’s rage had tunneled her vision. Her only
focus was Adelaide’s face. She couldn’t think. So when Adelaide
shifted again, she couldn’t react in time and tripped, falling face-
first onto the floor.
Looking down at her, Adelaide calmly pulled out her phone and
dialed a number. “Hello, is that Evercrest Mental Health Center?
A patient with a mental illness is attacking me.”
Amanda froze for several seconds, unsure if she was hallucinating.
Who was Adelaide calling?
Evercrest Mental Health Center?
Only after Adelaide hung up did Amanda fully process what had happened. Her face contorted even more grotesquely. “ADELAIDE! I’M GOING TO KILL YOU!!!”
She lunged again, only for Adelaide to dodge effortlessly once
more.
Just as Amanda picked up a shard of broken plate from the
floor and was about to strike again, a police officer in uniform
shouted, “Hey! What do you think you’re doing?!”
At the sight of the police officer, Amanda was startled and
quickly dropped the shard from her hand.
Adelaide was surprised that the police would show up, and she
guessed the staff must have called them.
Two police officers walked over and scanned the scene. One of them, a middle–aged officer, asked sternly, “Who made this
mess?”
She did,” Adelaide replied, pointing at Amanda.
“It wasn’t me! I didn’t do it!” Amanda frantically shook her head
and glared at Adelaide.
Adelaide sneered coldly, “Do you think the overhead cameras
are just for decoration?”
Amanda was stunned.
“You damaged private property. And just now, I saw you
attempting to assault this lady,” the middle–aged officer said as
he took out the handcuffs. “You’ll have to come with us to the
station.”
“I’m innocent! I’m mentally ill! I can’t handle provocation! She
deliberately triggered me, and that’s why I lost control and
smashed things!” Amanda screamed, her voice trembling with
fear.
Adelaide chuckled.
What a character. Always ready to pull the “I’m mentally ill”
card at any moment,
“We’ll need you to come with us as well, miss,” the officer
turned to Adelaide.
