During this time, Adelaide followed Reginald and knew that
unless it was a very important project, Reginald would
personally handle it. Otherwise, Nathan could handle it on
behalf of him, and most of the projects came automatically.
So she figured the person she was going to meet today must be
someone special.
“I don’t know.””
“Ah?” Adelaide widened her eyes, “And there’s something else
you don’t know?”
Nathan shrugged, “I only found out last minute that I had to
meet a client. Mr. Thorton didn’t say which client, just told me
to reschedule all my appointments after two for tomorrow.”
Stop being so mysterious.
Nathan asked, “Ms. Pierce, Mr. Thorton didn’t offend you,
right?”
Adelaide shook her head, “No.”
Nathan thought for a moment and said, “Mr. Thorton has run
away from home twice.”
Chapter158
“Pfft-!” Adelaide snorted ungracefully, “Sorry sorry, the coffee is
too cold. Mr. Hurst, you go on.”
Nathan saw through it but didn’t spill the beans, and continued,
“The first time was when Mr. Thorton graduated, Mrs. Thorton
helped him secure a rich girl. Originally, Mr. Thorton could
have flown back home on the day of his graduation. But he
changed his flight and stayed on a small island for six months
without contacting anyone. Mrs. Thorton got scared and had to
cancel the engagement.”
“The second time, it was five years ago, Mrs. Thorton pulled the
same trick. But this time, Mrs. Thorton was smarter, she chose
New Year’s Eve to lure Mr. Thorton back home for holiday
dinner, and then let the heiress appear. Mr. Thorton was so
angry that he didn’t even eat the holiday dinner, and flew to
that small island again.”
Nathan grinned and said, “Three years ago at the Cohen’s villa, Mr. Thorton and Ms. Pierce, that was your first time. It was Mrs.
Thorton who asked Mr. Cohen to bring Mr. Thorton back.”
Adelaide blinked.
“Mrs. Thorton was quiet for three years, and now she’s up to something again,” Nathan said mysteriously, “I wonder if Mr. Thorton is going on another vacation to the island for a few years, or if he’s staying put this time.”
Chapter158
Adelaide took a sip of coffee and asked, “Is that island Mr.
Thorton’s?”
” Nathan didn’t realize he had said so much, Ms. Pierce’s
focus was on the island. “Yeah.“”
Adelaide exclaimed, “Capitalists really make money, buying a
small island is as easy as buying candy.”
“The capitalist? Me?” came Reginald’s voice softly into Adelaide’s
right ear.
The hot air blew past her ears, making them tingle.
Adelaide bounced back immediately, chuckling, “No, Mr.
Thorton misunderstood.”
“Really? Buying an island is as easy as buying candy,” Reginald
chuckled, “Funny enough, I happen to own an island.”
Adelaide gave a thumbs up and said, “Awesome.”
