Chapter 14

These words made Adelaide feel sick. She held back her

emotions. “That’s quite a pity. You guys haven’t made it to the last step yet.”

“It’s just a matter of time,” Amanda said confidently. “I can make Garrett never touch you again and only remember me.”

Adelaide scoffed inwardly, “Let Garrett touch me? Not a chance. Does he even deserve it?”

Taking a deep breath, Adelaide used her last bit of calm to reply, “Well, good luck to you.”

Seeing that she still remained unmoved, Amanda completely lost her patience. “Garrett only loves me. He is mine. He won’t

change his mind and come back to you!”

“Got it,” Adelaide said, her voice flat and emotionless.

“Dad and Spencer have tried talking you out of it, Adelaide.

Don’t be so stubborn!” Amanda called out sharply as she walked

out of the bathroom. “Believe it or not, I’ll hurt myself right

now!”

These words successfully made Adelaide stop in her tracks and

turn around.

Amanda stood there with a smug grin, holding a folding knife in her hand. Her right wrist, originally bandaged, was now pressed against the blade with her right hand.

She was almost manic. “You are scared, aren’t you? If I hurt

myself here, I can frame you for it. When our family and Garrett get here, what do you think they’ll think?”

This crazy woman!

Adelaide was extremely irritated. She knew Amanda could

really do it.

But she wasn’t about to let Amanda control her.

She stared coldly at Amanda and said, “Garrett won’t let go, so

you have to come to me, right?”

Amanda’s smug look twisted into anger. “No! It’s you who’s clinging to Garrett and won’t let go!”

Adelaide was kind of speechless. “If he wanted a divorce, why didn’t he bring it up with me?”

Amanda was grinding her teeth in anger.

“Amanda, I meant what I said last night. If you can get Garrett to divorce me, you’ll be the real winner.” As Adelaide spoke, she sneaked right up in front and grabbed Amanda’s right hand to stop her from hurting herself.

Chapter 14

For a second, Amanda almost believed her.

But Amanda reacted at once.

She burst into laughter, “Adelaide, you’re scared I’ll hurt myself

and drag you down with me, aren’t you?”

Adelaide’s brows knitted together.

Then, out of nowhere, Amanda let go and dropped the folding knife. “Self–harm isn’t just about cutting my wrists, right?”

A wave of dread washed over Adelaide.

She instinctively grabbed Amanda’s hand, but Amanda bent

down and bit her.

She yelped, and then Amanda sprinted past her. Almost instantly, a thud and Amanda’s scream rang out.

Seeing this, Adelaide froze. She really underestimated how nuts

Amanda could be!

She was about to step forward when Jeanette and others

walked in.

When Jeanette saw Amanda’s bleeding forehead, she shrieked,

“Mandy! What happened to you?”

Spencer glanced at Amanda, gave Adelaide a meaningful look,
