Rejected Luna Returns with Secret Twins (Lysandra) novel Chapter 208

The distant rumble of an approaching car shattered the moment. Lysandra’s eyes cleared, and she shoved hard against my chest, scrambling to

her feet.

I stood more slowly, adjusting my stance to hide the evidence of my arousal. My wolf howled in frustration, demanding I finish what we’d started. I pushed him back, focusing on regaining control.

Lysandra turned away, her hands busy smoothing her clothes and tucking stray strands of hair behind her ears. I could hear her heart racing, see the slight tremble in her fingers.

Tristan, she said finally, still not looking at me. Let’s make a deal.

I raised an eyebrow, my voice deliberately casual despite the lingering huskiness. What kind of deal?

I know I can’t give my children what you can.She turned to face me, her expression guarded. But if you feel even a shred of remorse for misjudging me all these years, please give my children back to me.

Her request caught me off guard.

I do regret how I treated you,I said carefully. But don’t forget that you took my children from me and kept them hidden. I missed years of their lives.

How can you be so cruel, Tristan? Her voice broke slightly. I’m their mother.

And I’m their father,I countered. I have every right to be part of their lives.

Lysandra took a deep breath, visibly steadying herself. Fine. Raise them like royalty. They deserve everything you can give them. I won’t

interfere. But

But what?I prompted when she hesitated.

Don’t force my children to call another woman mother.

The request sent my mind back to the coffee shop, when she’d mentioned this before. I’d doubted her then, assuming she was lying about Selene’s behavior toward the children.

I’ve never forced them to call her mother,I said truthfully. I know they only love you. You’re their only mother.

Surprise flickered across Lysandra’s face. She hadn’t expected me to agree so readily. For a moment, her guard seemed to lower, and I found my gaze drawn back to her lips, remembering how close we’d been to kissing just moments ago.

Before I could say anything else, footsteps approached from behind me. I turned to see my driver hurrying toward us, holding a small handbag.

Excuse me, miss,he said, addressing Lysandra. Your phone has been ringing for quite some time.He handed the bag to her a briefly to me before returning to the car.

Lysandra quickly retrieved her phone, checking the screen. I glanced over, noting it wasn’t a saved contact. Just a number.

ded

Hello?she answered, and immediately her entire demeanor changed. A genuine smilethe kind I hadn’t seen directed at me in yearsspread

across her face. Eldreth!

My stomach tightened at the name. Eldreth Frostwhisper. The renowned healer. What the hell was he doing calling Lysandra? And why did hearing his name make her light up like that?

After that night, I thought you’d never call me,she said into the phone, still smiling.

Chapter 208

My hands clenched into fists. That night? What fucking night? Had she spent the night with him?

I’m sorry about what I did,Lysandra continued, unaware of my mounting tension. After I took you to the hotel, I realized I shouldn’t have slipped my number into your pocket. That was a bit forward, wasn’t it? Please don’t mind.

I stared at her in disbelief. She’d given him her number?

She glanced at me, lowering her voice slightly. Yes, yes. Thanks to Alpha Tristan for helping you that night.

The pieces clicked togetherthe night at the café when I’d found Eldreth drunk and Lysandra supporting him. She’d helped him back to his hotel, and apparently slipped him her number in the process.

I’m at Moonvale Lake Bridge now,she told him, that damn smile still lighting up her face.

I watched her, jealousy curling in my gut. She never smiled at me like that anymorewith genuine warmth that reached her eyes. What the hell did Eldreth have that I didn’t? And more importantly, what did he want with Lysandra?

Yes, of course, she said into the phone. Please come get me. I’ll be waiting.

Come get her? My jaw clenched so tight it hurt. First she gives him her number, and now she’s having him play chauffeur?

What did you say?I asked.

Lysandra glanced at me briefly, then turned her attention back to her phone. No, it’s fine. You don’t need to rush. I’ll wait for you here, she said to Eldreth, completely ignoring my question.

I watched her, something dark and uneasy twisting in my gut. Her eyes flicked to mine as she spoke, maintaining eye contact while continuing her conversation with Eldreth. The casual dismissal of my presence felt like a deliberate challenge.

*See you soon, Eldreth, she said finally, her voice softening in a way it never did for me anymore. She tucked the phone back into her bag and turned to me with an expectant look. What?

What were you telling him?I asked, unable to keep the edge from my voice.

To come pick me up.She crossed her arms, lifting her chin slightly.

I reached for her arm, fingers hesitating midair before settling lightly on her sleeve. I took you from work so you could run off with another

man?

Did I ask you to help me take time off?Her eyebrows rosé. Did I request that at any point?

I don’t care. You can’t waste your time on other men.

You’ll never change, Tristan Wolfbane, she said, eyes flashing. Just minutes ago, you were apologizing, and now-
