AUTHOUR'S POV ...

Both of them turned to the distance and gasped along.

"Augustus..." Charlotte murmured but soon, her expression turned blank toward him.

"And what are you doing here?" She asked confidently.

Adrian felt a little alarmed as his gaze fell on Charlotte. 'What the fuck is this woman doing!? Has she gone mad? Or forget that night!?' But, he remained silent.

Augustus on the other hand, clenched his fists as his eyes fixated on his mate. He walked close to her.

"Didn't I ask you to not come alone out of the mansion? But, you make it your habit to disobey me, don't you?" He sounded displeased.

"And you are here to meet..." Then his eyes fell on the silent Adrian, who just gulped.

Even though he is also the Alpha of his pack, before the Alpha King, he is nothing. He only stood lowering his head.

"What are you doing here with him?" Augustus asked again, turning his gaze to Charlotte.

Tilting her head a little, she smirked, "Why? What will you do? Drag me to your dark cell like last time? Then why are you not doing it already? Go on, do it." She spoke.

She has walked past all the fears that were inside her. She tried her best to sacrifice and compromise lots of things, but she couldn't anymore. She has feared him and be obedient. But, this time, she chose the other way and her wolf's rage is provoking her more.

Augustus clenched his fists tightly, trying to hold his anger more to himself. This afternoon, Mateo has given him a report that she is also investigating the 'Same scent' matter. And by far, he realised, it was he who misunderstood her.

So, he decided to come back home tonight but when he came to the room, Charlotte wasn't home. Generally, he was furious, but he was scared more when his wolf located her in the dark forest in the middle of the night.

He immediately came to search for her and found her with Adrian. He doesn't know what they were talking about but if she was investigating then it was possible for her to meet him.

He took a step forward, "Answer the question, Charlotte."

Charlotte stared at her mate. Tears wanted to form in her eyes but she suppressed that emotion and masked her face with a blank expression.

She smirked only, "Why? Can't you see? I am meeting here with my boyfriend. Alone, in the dark forest." But, somehow, the shakiness in her tone betrayed her expression.

"Didn't you understand it by now, Augustus? I used your scent to synch with him to convince my wolf that he is our mate!" She stated strongly, slightly agitated recalling how he disbelieved her and tortured her.

Also, like this, Adrian would drop the idea of doubting her, if he is suspecting her somehow. That way, her revenge would be smoother.

Charlotte was surprised at first and then tried to get out of his hold. "Leave me!"

"No!" He growled and stared deeply into her ivory-blue eyes. "You are MINE! YOU ONLY BELONG TO ME!"

His hand hold her by the neck and tilted her head a little in the back. It didn't hurt her but she was angry. "Why now? Didn't you realise the truth now? So, just let me go!" She barked at him, not lowering her eyes.

"No matter what happens, you only belong to me, Charlotte. You are my mate and MINE!" He growled, declaring his claim on her.

Adrian trembled under his growl. And before he could get Augustus's focus on him, he decided to leave the place for his own good.

Without making a sound, he slowly turned around and left. But, of course, he was caught by the ruthless Alpha King.

"One more time, and that will be your last day in this world Adrian. Either you or I can live in this world. Keep the words in your fat head.

Augustus said those words staring deeply into those ivory-blue eyes, which were burning with rage and a desire of lust while glaring at him. 

After all, they are mates and her unstable heat is the other reason too. Even though they are going through a tough time, the physical attraction and the mate connection, they can not avoid ever.

Adrian did not dare to turn to see Augustus and left the place...
