Chapter 13: Confrontation and Revelation
(Elena’s POV)
A tall, well–built Alpha leaned against his black sedan, smoking a cigarette. The blue white smoke blurred his face, but his deep golden eyes swept over the men’s coat draped over my body, inscrutable.
Nathan instinctively glanced at me, then turned to Marcus. “Alpha Marcus, are you waiting for someone?”
The thought that Marcus might be waiting for me seemed absurd. Why would he care about my whereabouts after orchestrating tonight’s humiliation?
Marcus raised his head, exhaled smoke, and crushed the cigarette under his foot. His gaze turned cold as he looked at Nathan.
“Young Master Sterling, do you enjoy meddling in other people’s business so much?”
The four words “meddling in other people’s business” hit my heart like a hammer. My lips went pale as the realization struck me like lightning.
Tonight’s scheme orchestrated by Sophia might truly have been Marcus’s idea. The thought made run cold, my hands and feet freezing.

Nathan noticed my distress and narrowed his eyes, turning to Marcus. “How is saving a damsel in distress considered meddling?”
Marcus frowned, and just as Nathan was about to say more, I weakly pulled at his sleeve. “Big Brother Nathan, please take me home.”
I couldn’t bear to hear any more. The betrayal cut too deep.
Sensing my trembling, Nathan agreed without further argument with Marcus.
As we were about to leave, Marcus called out coldly. “Elena.”
I stiffened. He never called my name in public, always avoiding acknowledgment of our mate bond.
Confused by his sudden change, I hesitated. What game was he playing now?
“Didn’t you hear me calling you?” he demanded impatiently.
The bandaged wound on my palm reopened slightly from my clenched fist. Suppressing my pain, I turned back numbly.
“Alpha Marcus, what is it?”
“Come here,” he commanded.
When I hesitated, he added threateningly. “Don’t make me say it twice”
I apologized to Nathan, who understood my predicament. He whispered that I could contact him anytime before leaving.

I walked heavily toward Marcus, each step feeling like I was walking to my execution
Marcus asked with narrowed eyes. “Are you so eager to betray our mate bond?”
His gaze fixed on the swelling at the corner of my mouth, frowning. “What happened?”
I laughed bitterly, my eyes reddening “What happened? Shouldn’t Alpha Marcus know better than mas

He yanked it off, revealing the disheveled state beneath. Marcus froze, his expression turning cold
“Who did this?”
I felt my nose sting with unshed tears. I pulled out the crumpled document from my bag and throw it at him forcefully
“Isn’t this your scheme, instructing Sophia to trick me into attending that dinner, to humiliate met
Marcus’s gaze swept over the document on the ground, frowning
My suppressed grievances finally exploded. “Marcus, if you truly despise me so much, we can sever our mate bond anytime. Why do you need others to insult me!”
Marcus remained silent, just staring at me. The silence was more damning than any accusation
I turned to leave, afraid I might suffocate if I stayed another second.
“Elena, if you dare leave, I’ll withdraw the lawyer defending your brother,” Marcus threatened
My steps froze, my fists clenching tighter. David’s fate hung in the balance of my compliance
Seeing I hadn’t turned back, he sneered and blocked my escape route. “If you’re thinking of asking Young
Master Sterling for help, that’s impossible. The Sterling family can’t interfere with my affairs.”
My emotions completely collapsed, my voice becoming hoarse and choked. “Marcus, what exactly do you
want!”
He casually threw Nathan’s coat into a trash bin. He removed his own suit jacket and walked toward me.
Before I could react, his coat covered me from above. Despite my resistance, he forcibly brought me to the

Amber Stone, the driver, turned and nodded respectfully. “Luna Elena.”
Elena looked dazed, quickly turning to stare blankly out the window. I glanced at her and signaled Amber to
drive.
When we arrived at Moonhaven Estate, Elena quickly got out and rushed toward the Residential Tower.
didn’t hurry to get out, instructing Amber.
“Investigate what happened tonight”
Back in the Master Suite, Elena hurried into the bedroom.
When I entered and found the coat on the floor, I loosened my tie with a gloomy expression. I walked to the
bedroom door and found it locked from inside.

The next day, I emerged from the bedroom to find Catherine Hayes had prepared breakfast
