"Penny, I’m so glad you asked me to come help you today," Lily said as she walked out of the residence with Penny. "Ginnie’s been such a bummer and hates it when I try to dress her up."
Penny smiled, walking Lily to her car. "I should be the one thanking you. Be careful on your way."
"Mhm." Lily grinned from ear to ear. "Anyway, I’m also glad you’re not letting it affect you."
"Huh?"
"Nina," Lily clarified. "I heard about what happened. I heard she called off the engagement, and then Finn got into an accident shortly after. Knowing you, I was a little worried you’d stop everything just to be with her."
"If I do that, it’s like punishing Nina."
Lily nodded. "That’s why I’m glad you’re not letting it get to you."
"Lily, have I ever been someone who stops just because others are going through something?"
"No, but you slow down. If not, you’re like a raging bull. I prefer the former, since the latter scares me a bit, just a tiny bit." Lily smirked playfully. "Anyway, are you sure you’re going to wear that to the office?"
"Is there a problem with it?"
Lily didn’t answer right away, instead assessing Penny up and down. Penny was wearing simple jeans, a shirt, and a jacket—nothing like the usual smart casual attire she would wear to the office. It looked more like she was heading for a stroll.
"Nothing," Lily finally replied. "You look perfect in anything."
"Haha. Go now."
"And you?"
"After you," Penny smirked, tilting her head in a direction.
Lily slowly shifted her gaze to where Penny gestured and raised an eyebrow when she saw a motorbike. "You’re going to ride that?"
"I’ve been going to the office with it—a few times a week." ƒreewebηoveℓ.com
"And your clothes?"
"I sometimes change in the office." Penny grinned. "I have a room above my office, and since I’m not using it, I decided to put some clothes in there."
"Oh..." Lily’s mouth formed an "o" shape. "I’m surprised your husband is letting you."
"You’d be surprised by what else he lets me do," Penny quipped, giving Lily a gentle push into the backseat. "Go now. I know you have lots of things to do, and I’ve already taken up half your morning."
Lily chuckled, settling into the backseat. But before Penny could close the door, Lily held onto the handle and peeked out.
"Penny," she called, watching Penny raise her eyebrows. "You’re going, right? To the fan club reunion."
"I never heard of such a thing... like a fan club reunion."
"Please...?"
Penny studied the look on Lily’s pretty face and sighed. "I’ll think about it."
"Great!"
"Now, take care."
DING!
’This shameless person!’ Benjamin’s face soured. ’We all know he didn’t stop the lift because he thought no one was using it. His excuses are getting lamer while he’s getting even more cocky!’
"Of course you may." Zoren offered his uncle a subtle smile, though it didn’t reach his eyes.
William smirked, casting the cheeky Benjamin a taunting look. Benjamin grumbled, moving to the back with a heavy heart.
"Meet me in the lobby," William told his people outside the lift, smiling as the doors closed.
Standing side by side with Zoren, William cast him a sidelong glance. "Thank you for sharing the lift with me, Zoren."
"Generosity is something I do not deprive my people of," Zoren replied coolly. "William, you seem to be in a good mood."
"With the family meeting coming up, it’ll once again show how united the Pierson Family is," William quipped, wiggling his brows at Zoren. "Doesn’t that make you happy, Zoren?"
Zoren narrowed his eyes and lowered his gaze. "It does make me happy."
"Hehe." William chuckled, letting silence settle over them for a moment. But as they neared the ground floor, he spoke again. "Everyone is excited, especially to meet your wife. I won’t lie — I’m eager to meet her as well."
"Zoren, she’ll be coming tonight, won’t she?" he asked, casting Zoren a meaningful look, but Zoren didn’t answer.
DING!
"Well, here we are." William cleared his throat as the doors opened, smacking his lips while casting Zoren one last look. He didn’t linger as he stepped out, but just as he did, he heard Zoren speak.
"You wouldn’t want her there."
William’s brow furrowed deeply, glancing back at the lift where Zoren stood. "What did you say?"
"You wouldn’t want my wife to be there," Zoren repeated, speaking slowly in case William didn’t understand. He gave a subtle smile as the doors slowly closed, adding, "She’s not that easy."
