Chapter 618: begged me not to hurt them

A few seconds ago...

"Miss, the ambulance is already on the way," said the staff to Grace. "They told us not to move her until they arrive."

"How long will they take to get here?"

"Three minutes... that’s what they said." The staff nervously clasped her hands, gazing at the unconscious Penny before Grace.

Grace ground her teeth briefly, huffing as she nodded. "Three minutes," she murmured. "No more than that. Do you understand?"

"Yes."

"It’s my fault..." Nina teared up in distress, touching her head as she didn’t know what to do or how to feel. Everything happened so fast that no one was able to grasp the situation until the aftermath. She wiped her eyes with her arm, sniffling as she held onto Penny’s hand.

"No, it’s my fault," Lily chimed in, chewing her bottom lip with tears rolling down her cheeks. She looked up at the staff, her eyes swirling with concern. "Please, is there anyone else who can help? There should be someone who could assist while we wait, right?"

"Is there a doctor here?!" Ginnie didn’t wait for an answer, yelling as she scanned the crowd. "Please! Anyone?!"

As they all drowned in worry and desperation, the eyes beneath Penny’s eyelids flickered. No one noticed as Penny slowly opened her eyes.

"Ugh..." A grunt escaped Penny, causing her friends to intuitively turn toward the sound.

"Penny!" they exclaimed, reaching out as she slowly pushed herself into a sitting position.

"What the hell?" Penny blurted out, groaning and wincing at the stinging pain in her head. "Why does my head—"

Penny instinctively touched the back of her head before shifting her gaze to her palm. Her brows furrowed the moment she saw blood on her hand. However, when she caught sight of Grace squatting beside her, Penny tilted her head slightly.

"Pfft—" She pursed her lips to stifle a laugh. "What in the world, Grace? Why are you looking at me as if I’m dying?"

"Penny, are you okay? I think you need to lie down!" Nina exclaimed in a panic, squeezing Penny’s hand to get her attention. "Penny, you’re bleeding a lot. You should rest first."

Penny faced Nina and arched a brow. "What kind of joke are you telling now?" she blurted out, confused by the concern in Nina’s eyes. But before she could say anything more, Lily and Ginnie came to her side, equally worried.

"Penny, what are you saying?" Lily inquired. "Did you... are you experiencing amnesia? Did you forget that my ex threw a whole bottle of beer at Nina?!"

"Penny, you’re worrying me!" Ginnie added.

Penny darted her eyes between them. "Who..." she trailed off as she slowly recalled the background check she did on herself. ’Never mind. These are my friends.’

’Goodness,’ she thought, her eyes falling on the clothes Grace was wearing and then back to her face. ’I almost didn’t recognize her.’

’I don’t think she deserved to be saved,’ she thought, mentally shrugging. ’But I guess I really adore her in this lifetime. Oh, how forgiving I am.’

Well, he should be scared because not only had he woken up the drunken Penny, but this version was fresh from the psychiatric clinic today. There was a reason Penny hadn’t consumed any alcoholic beverages tonight, even though that had been the plan.

"So..." Penny spoke, keeping her awkward pose. "You’re the guy... who woke me up again, huh?"

Aiden almost screamed in horror as soon as he heard those words. It wasn’t that Penny was shouting; in fact, her voice was quiet. Yet, he heard her loud and clear.

"Don’t you come near me!" he warned in a shaky voice, holding the bottle toward them. "It’s your fault! If you don’t want to get hurt again, then stay back!"

"Don’t want to get hurt again?" Penny chuckled like a maniac, pulling her head to straighten herself. She felt slightly dizzy, touching her head and then stretching her neck from side to side.

Slowly, Penny pushed herself up, ignoring her friends’ advice to stay on the floor.

"Ahh..." Penny massaged her neck, spreading the blood on her palm to her skin. When she snapped her eyes open, a glint flickered across them. "Do you know the last time someone told me to stay back if I didn’t want to get hurt?" freēwēbηovel.c૦m

She grinned. "They all begged me not to hurt them."

The moment those words escaped Penny’s mouth, she marched in his direction. Her steps were unfaltering and heavy, making Aiden panic as he took quick, short steps back. Even those who were trying to gang up on him drew away as they sensed they shouldn’t get in between them, especially after witnessing the fierce look plastered on Penny’s face.

In their eyes, they did not see a woman with a head injury. What they were looking at was an awakened demon who was about to slaughter Aiden tonight.
