Penny and Zoren stared at the dish rack in horror before the latter hung his head low.
No wonder he felt really strange. He was always in heat for his wife, and he had made it a goal to never leave her alone at night—and get some extra in the morning. But this feeling...
Zoren clasped his chest and clenched his teeth. "I still want to do it."
"I know, because that soup is meant to make you like that," she nodded with great difficulty. "But... the problem is, it’s not just you."
Again, Zoren raised his head and met her eyes.
Uh oh.
"Let me check the soup first," she said, gently pushing him away before rushing to the pot. When Penny opened it, it was almost empty. "What the—!!"
"Second Brother chugged it down like water," Zoren explained, trying to control himself even though his mind felt like it was spiraling downwards. "And we had a couple of bowls while waiting."
Penny gasped, looking at her husband in disbelief. Zoren’s cheeks had now turned even redder, as if he had just chugged an entire bottle of rum.
"Goodness," she grumbled, tipping the pot in an attempt to get even a tiny bit of the remaining soup. She had tasted it when Old Mrs. Pierson gave it to her, just out of curiosity.
And sure enough, it tasted the same.
"Oh my god..." Penny breathed out in horror, turning to Zoren, who was now leaning against the counter.
"It’s the same?" he asked weakly, and she nodded. "Ah, damn."
Penny covered her mouth in distress, just realizing the people who had the same soup as her husband. She could help her husband manually, but her brothers?! Not to mention, Haines?!
Those four were surely in for a ride.
"Uh... Penny?"
Just as Penny was thinking of ways to fix this problem, a meek voice caressed her ears. She and Zoren instinctively turned their heads, their eyes landing on Slater. Deep lines quickly appeared on her forehead as she watched Slater walk in, a blanket wrapped around his entire body.
"Third Brother..." Penny called, noting that Slater’s flushness seemed to have lightened. Considering he had gone to take a cold shower, it probably helped. But then...
"Why are you wrapped up in a blanket, Third Brother?" she asked. "Are you cold?"
This place, after all, wasn’t just at a perfect temperature—it was cold.
Slater pursed his lips, his eyes swirling with mixed emotions as tears started to well up in them.
"Penny, if I die, just know that I’m still sorry for being such a jerk and for not being a good brother to you."
"Huh?"
"I know I said I already recovered and that I’m your slave through and through, but if I die, I regret everything! And I love you so much I can’t stop crying!" Slater added, his voice rising as tears started rolling down his cheeks.
"Wait—what—hey, Third Brother, why are you crying?!" Penny panicked as she quickly rushed to him, hands on his shoulders. "Are you okay?"
She winced, knowing her brother was not okay. Her husband wasn’t, after having that soup, and neither was Slater, who had the same soup!
"I mean, what’s wrong? Third Brother, stop crying. It’s fine! Tell me what you feel?" she asked, trying to calm him down. "Do you still feel hot even after the cold shower?"
Slater hiccuped and shook his head.
"Kyah!!" Penny quickly looked away while Zoren jumped in. Even he didn’t know how he moved so fast, but he managed to catch Slater just in time before he could flash Penny with something... horrible.
Zoren froze while Slater looked at him in dismay. The former slowly gazed down, almost sighing in relief when he saw that Slater was wearing loose pants. Though... there was definitely something bulging down there.
"For a second, I thought you didn’t have anything underneath."
"Ew!" Slater almost gagged, covering himself with the blanket again. "Why are you looking at my pipi for so long?! You have one too!"
With that, Slater instinctively glanced at Zoren’s. He didn’t know why he did—but how he wished he could be reborn ten seconds before this moment.
"Ahhh!" Slater screamed, squeezing his eyes shut. "What the hell is that?!"
Zoren glanced down. "It’s the same for me, apparently," he sighed, turning to Penny.
Penny peeked at them, only to see her husband nod at her. "Is that true?"
"Penny, why do you think I came here to humiliate myself if I’m lying?" Slater frowned. "It’s not going down and I’m starting to feel helpless. What should I do?"
"Uh..." Penny scratched her cheek, thinking of ways to get them out of this situation. Finding out why their chef had prepared that soup was not the priority right now. But while the three of them were lost in thought, loud noises erupted from outside the kitchen.
"Holy crap," she breathed out. "First Brother and Second Brother also had that damn soup."
"It sounds like there’s a war outside," Slater mumbled. "What’s going on out there??"
"I don’t know, and I don’t want to know," Zoren muttered, his eyes inevitably falling on Penny. He shook his head and looked away. Not the right time.
"I also don’t want to know, but I have to." Penny almost wept. Either way, the three of them rushed outside—only to witness the horror awaiting them.
