Genius Kids‘ Scheme: Claiming Daddy’s Billionaire Empire
Chapter 67
The next two days flew by in a blur. With Irene sidelined by her injured ankle, Adam flipped the script–coming to her for treatments instead. James ran the household like a seasoned drill sergeant, while Alex played nurse with adorable seriousness, delivering meals with the focus of a tiny butler–in–training.
By day four, Irene was back on her feet. The swelling had gone down leaving only yellowing bruises as evidence of her fall. She was deep in patient files when Katherine burst in, her usual megawatt smile nowhere to be seen.
“We need to talk,” Katherine said, cutting straight to the chase.
One look at her friend’s face and Irene knew this wasn’t a social call What’s wrong?”
“There’s been an accident.” Katherine’s voice dropped. “Racing accident in Europe. One of the top drivers crashed testing a prototype -it’s bad.”
Katherine didn’t sugarcoat it. “His legs are wrecked. Doctors are talking amputation, career over, the works. His team reached out to me.” She took a breath. “They’re desperate for Dr. Joy. They’ll pay anything–and I mean anything–to get you on the case.”
She hesitated, unusual for someone who typically bulldozed through conversations. “There’s more. I did some digging before giving them an answer, and…” Her eyes met Irene’s. “It’s Brandon Sterling. Your brother.”
The words hit like a punch to the gut. “Brandon?”

Katherine nodded. “He’s kept it quiet–nothing in the media yet. His team has no clue that the miracle doctor they’re hunting down is actually his sister.” She leaned forward. “I wanted you to have all the cards before deciding whether to step in.
Irene’s mind raced. The Sterling family was complicated territory–toxic waste dump territory–except for Grandfather. She’d never even met Brandon in person. He’d been off racing when she was briefly welcomed into the family, and hadn’t bothered showing up
when they’d kicked her to the curb.
“I need to think,” Irene finally said. “I swore I was done with the Sterlings.”
“Fair enough,” Katherine replied. “They think Dr. Joy is just some hotshot surgeon from R Country. The ball’s in your court.”
Irene nodded absently, already wrestling with the cosmic joke of it all. Her brother’s team, desperately seeking help from the sister
he’d never bothered to know.
Alex hadn’t missed Katherine’s arrival–or the serious vibe between the adults. He’d been waiting for this moment ever since slipping those hair samples to Katherine. With perfect timing, he bounced into the room during a lull in conversation.
“Katherine! Want to see my new program? It’s upstairs!”
Katherine switched gears instantly, her face brightening. “Lead the way, genius!”
As Alex practically dragged her upstairs, she called back, “We’ll finish this, later, Irene. Take your time.”
The moment Alex’s bedroom door clicked shut, Lucas and Lily ambushed them from their hiding spots.
“Did you get it?” Lily whispered urgently, bouncing on her toes.
“Mom might hear!” Alex checked the door was properly closed.

Lucas fidgeted on the bed, impatience radiating off him. “Well? What did the tests say?”
Katherine
pulled an envelope from her bag, holding it just out of reach. “Before I hand this over–are you absolutely sure you want to know? This isn’t something you can un–know.”
“We need this,” Alex said with surprising firmness. “We’ve suspected forever. We just need proof.”
Katherine studied their determined little faces before surrendering the envelope. “Here you go.”
Alex opened it with surgeon–like precision, his siblings crowding around, The document was filled with scientific jargon, but the conclusion was crystal clear: 99.9% match.
“It’s true,” Alex whispered, eyes wide. “Uncle Adam is our father.”
The reaction was immediate–Lucas silently pumped his fist while y clapped both hands over her mouth to trap her excitement. Alex just stood there, his hunch finally confirmed after years of wondering and months of detective work.
“We were right!” Lucas whispered intensely. “I knew it!”
“Uncle Adam is really our daddy,” Lily twirled silently, her face glowing with pure joy.
Alex carefully folded the report, suddenly all business. “Katherine, this stays between us for now. Mom can’t know yet.
Katherine’s eyebrow shot up. “That’s a major secret to keep from your mother.”
“Please,” Alex begged. “If she finds out too soon, she might freak out and we’ll never see Dad again. They need time to fall for each
other first.”
Katherine considered this, then nodded. “Alright, Sherlock Junior. My lips are sealed.” She tapped her chest. “But your mom’s no
dummy–she’ll connect the dots eventually.”
“That’s the plan,” Alex replied with surprising maturity. “By then, hopefully it’ll be happy news instead of scary news.”
After Katherine left, the triplets huddled on Alex’s bed, still processing their discovery.
“Adam Haven is our daddy,” Lily whispered, hugging her stuffed animal.
“And he has no clue,” Lucas added, uncharacteristically subdued.
