Genius Kids‘ Scheme: Claiming Daddy’s Billionaire Empire
Chapter 21: A Lucky Star After All
Adam lay still on the bed, his eyes closed in an attempt to maintain his composure. The great CEO of Haven Enterprise, used to commanding rooms with his mere presence, now found himself in the unfamiliar position of being examined by the one person who seemed completely immune to his authority.
Irene’s touch stayed professional as she moved her fingers along his legs, checking his muscles and nerves. The room was quiet except for her occasional questions.
“Can you feel this?” she asked softly, applying gentle pressure. “How about here?”
“No.” Adam’s voice came out cold and tight. He kept his eyes shut, refusing to look. Having to admit weakness, even to a doctor, clearly drove him crazy.
Thomas hovered nearby like a nervous mom at a kid’s doctor appointment. After years of working for Adam, he could read all the tiny signs that showed his boss was uncomfortable. Right now, those signs were everywhere.
Irene kept working, totally focused despite Adam’s increasingly short answers. Each “no” seemed heavier than the last, loaded with frustration he wouldn’t say out loud.
Sweat beaded on Irene’s forehead as she worked, her hands moving with the kind of skill that only came from years of practice. Her fingers found pressure points that other doctors might have missed.
Then Adam’s eyes flew open. “Wait.” His voice changed completely, full of disbelief. “That spot… I just felt something. Like an ache.”
Irene’s hands paused, but her face stayed calm. Only her eyes brightened a bit. “That’s actually really good,” she said, going back to work with new energy. “It means your nerves
are still working.”
“Dr. Sterling!” Thomas practically jumped forward, looking like a kid on Christmas morning. “Does that mean-”
“Things look better than we thought,” Irene said with quiet confidence. “Most people worried your nerves were permanently damaged, but they’re actually responding. In simple terms – your body hasn’t given up, it just needs the right kind of help.”

Chapter 21: A Lucky Star After All
She moved to the medical equipment laid out nearby. “We’ll need to test a few different areas,” she explained, selecting the tools with practiced ease. Irene moved with practiced ease as she examined different spots on his legs. She wasn’t just randomly checking – every touch had a purpose. Even Thomas could tell she was leagues ahead of any doctor they’d seen before.
“Previous doctors focused on the obvious spots,” she explained while working. “They missed the bigger picture. Sometimes the real problem is hiding somewhere else, like a puzzle piece that doesn’t quite fit.”
Adam’s eyebrow lifted slightly. It was the first time anyone had explained his condition in
a way that actually made sense.
She paused at a particular spot. “This area seems promising. The nerve response is better than expected.”
Before starting again, she glanced up at him, her professional mask softening just a bit. “Just tell me if anything hurts, okay?”
The next hour was like watching a master at work. Every move Irene made showed years of training and perfect attention to detail. Even Adam couldn’t help watching her, though
on what I’m seeing, walking again is totally possible. I need to work out all the treatment details, but honestly…” She smiled slightly. “This looks better than I expected.”
