Genius Kids' Scheme Claiming Daddy's Billionaire Empire novel Chapter 19

Chapter 19: The Anonymous Buyer

After lunch, Irene arranged fresh fruit on the coffee table before gathering the dishes. Her fingers lingered for a moment on a pristine napkin, smoothing out an invisible wrinkle as she processed how surreal this whole situation felt. Just days ago, she’d been adamant about avoiding Adam entirely. Now here she was, having just shared a surprisingly peaceful lunch with him in her new home.

Thomas lingered nearby, practically radiating nervous energy as he waited for the right moment to speak. When Irene finally loaded the last plate into the dishwasher, he cleared

his throat.

“Dr. Sterling,” he started, his voice carefully hopeful, “look, we’ve shared a nice lunch together, so maybe we could put all that… unpleasantness behind us?” He shifted his weight, then pressed on. “Any chance you could take a look at Mr. Haven now? The sooner we get started with treatment, the better, right?

Irene glanced at him. “You seem more invested in this than the patient himself.”

But she wasn’t one to drag her feet once she’d committed to something. Now that she’d taken on this case, she would give it her full attention. “Listen, I wasn’t avoiding bringing this up,” she explained, leaning against the counter. “I just don’t have the proper equipment here. I need to review his previous examination records, and as you probably know, old injuries are never simple to fix. If it works for you guys, we should do this at your place.”

Thomas’s face lit up like Christmas had come early. “Oh my god, yes! Absolutely!” He nodded so enthusiastically she worried he might hurt himself. “That would be perfect, actually!”

Just as she was grabbing her phone, three little voices piped up around her like a well- rehearsed choir.

“Mom, can we come too?” Lily was already clutching her sleeve, those big eyes working their magic. Her dark curls bounced as she practically vibrated with hope.

“I’ll help carry stuff!Alex offered, trying his best to sound grown–up despite his cherubic face.

“We’ll be super quiet, promise!” Lucas added, giving her his best angel face.

When Irene hesitated – because really, a medical examination wasn’t exactly kid–friendly entertainment – the triplets switched tactics so smoothly it would have made a PR professional proud. They turned those identical pleading eyes on Adam.

“Mr. Haven?” Lily’s voice could have melted steel. “Please can we come? We’ll be really

good!”

Something flickered in Adam’s expression as he looked at the three hopeful faces. Maybe it was the way Lily’s eyes mirrored his own, or just the pure innocence of their request,

but his usual stern demeanor softened just a fraction.

“It’s just a home consultation,” he said, his voice gentler than Irene had ever heard it.

They won’t be in the way.”

“Fine,” Irene conceded, trying to hide her smile at their victory dance. “But you three need

to behave, okay? No interrupting while I’m working.”

“We’ll be angels!” they chorused with such perfect timing she had to wonder if they’d

rehearsed it.

Chapter 19 1

When they entered Adam’s villa, Irene was surprised to find the layout identical to her own place. The only difference was that Adam’s home was more completely furnished, with expensive artwork adorning the walls. One piece in particular caught her eye – a striking modern art masterpiece she instantly recognized. She’d followed the heated bidding war for it at a London auction three years ago, when it finally sold for twenty million dollars to an anonymous buyer. Looking at it now, gleaming on Adam’s wall, she couldn’t help but smile slightly at the revelation. This man certainly had both the means and taste to maintain such an impressive collection.
