Chapter 422 A Hidden Threat
The elderly doctor frowned, still puzzled. “With such a high fever, there should be irregularities in the bloodwork.”
“But Mr. Simon’s blood test results show nothing out of the ordinary.”

He’d also examined the lungs, throat, and even Johnathan’s injured ribs–nothing stood out.
Sierra’s heart skipped a beat. She stepped forward quickly. “Can I see the report?”
The doctor glanced at Wayne. Seeing no objection, he handed it over.
Sierra skimmed through the results–and her expression darkened.
“This report is identical to the one from yesterday,” she said sharply.
“That’s impossible!” the doctor immediately objected. “Blood values change throughout the day. They’d never be identical.”
“They are,” Sierra replied firmly.
Then she rattled off the exact figures from memory–every reading, precise to the decimal. The room fell into stunned silence.
She’d only seen the report once–and remembered it all?
Even Wayne looked at her with newfound respect.
He turned to the doctor and said, “Fetch yesterday’s report. Now.”
The hospital had returned all files to the Wynn estate, with nothing left on record.
Grumbling in disbelief, the doctor retrieved the prior report and compared the two–his eyes widened. “It’s… it’s exactly the same. Not even a single digit is different. That’s impossible!”
Blood results could never remain fixed like this.
Sierra’s voice turned cold. “It is impossible. Unless something is interfering with the results.”
“Johnathan was drugged yesterday.”
The initial assumption had been that it was a heavy sedative, and since there were no outward symptoms, everyone had dismissed it.

But that assumption had been dead wrong.

The organization behind the attack was known for advanced pharmaceutical development. There was no way they’d go through all that trouble just to knock him out with a simple tranquilizer.
Sierra had put the pieces together–and clearly, so had Wayne.
His face hardened, and he slammed his cane on the floor.
“Call in every expert we have. Immediately.”
Sierra didn’t stop him. She quietly collected a sample of Johnathan’s earlier blood draws and slipped them into her bag.
She cast one last glance at Johnathan–his fever had dropped, but he was still unconscious.
“Grandpa,” she said firmly, turning to Wayne. “Please keep watch over him.”
“I’m going to the lab.”
She couldn’t trust anyone else. She needed to uncover the truth with her own hands.
Wayne gave her a steady look, then nodded.
“I’ll have someone drive you–and make sure you’re protected.”
Sierra nodded. She leaned down and pressed a kiss to Johnathan’s forehead.
“Mr. Yaeger, stay put and wait for me, okay?”
Without another word, she turned and strode out, not looking back once.
Watching her decisive posture, Wayne nodded slightly to himself. Now that’s more like it.
With her guards, Sierra made it back to North Salem University at top speed.
The campus was still under lockdown from the day before, but Wayne had already paved the way–Sierra passed through security unhindered and entered the lab.
She changed into her lab coat, took a deep breath, and plunged into the sterile; glass–walled lab space.

Back at the estate, Johnathan slowly woke after the fever reducing injection. His eyes opened to à room full of people–a sight that instantly irritated him.
