The Lost Heiress: Never Forgiven (Sierra Xander) novel Chapter 396

Chapter 396 The Final Confession

Johnathan looked calmly at Jose, whose face had drastically changed. “Whether it’s true or not, you kno better than anyone.”

“Jose, deep down, you know better than anyone whether you’ve always respected me-or just envied m

Jose suddenly shouted.

“Yes, I envied you! Fine, I did work with Quinn. I even helped her come back to the country in the first place! Do you know why? It’s all because of you! Why didn’t you tell me what you were doing? Why did you let me know? Ever since I can remember, Mom and Dad kept telling me to respect you, that you’re brother, that I should look up to you for the rest of my life. And in the beginning, I really did. I thought having a brother like you was amazing. But how did you treat me? You never once looked me in the eye. And why didn’t you tell me any of this?”

The moment he finished speaking, a loud smack rang out-Susie had slapped him hard across the face.

“Shut up! Just shut up!”

Susie looked at her son in disappointment. She had suspected some things, but she never imagined he’d started harboring such thoughts so early. Even Quinn’s return had been tied to him.

And now, he was putting all the blame on Johnathan.

Susie took several deep breaths before finally turning to Johnathan. “Johnathan, I’ll make this right for you.”

Just thinking about how Johnathan had nearly died in the operating room filled her with guilt.

“Whatever needs to be done, we’ll do it. I’ll inform your father and the old man.”

“Mom?”

Jose stared at his mother in disbelief. For the sake of Johnathan, she was really willing to abandon him?

Susie looked at him with deep sorrow, but her voice remained firm. “Jose, this is my failure as a mother. If you’ve done wrong, you have to face the consequences. I should never have only told you to respect your brother-that wasn’t enough.”

She was full of regret, but it was too late for that now. The only thing she could do was try to make amends.

Just as she was about to call Chase, Johnathan spoke:

“I’ll handle this myself. He wronged me-so it’s up to me to decide what happens.”

Then he turned to Jose. “I’ll ask one last time: how did you get in touch with Quinn? Tell me everything, from beginning to end.”

Jose didn’t want to talk. But when he saw his disappointed mother and Johnathan’s cold expression, he realized this was his last chance.

After a long silence, he finally began. “At first, I didn’t know what she was really after. I just happened to overhear her talking to Grandpa one time, and he seemed really wary of her-that’s when I started suspecting something. She went abroad after that, but we stayed in touch. I usually just asked about you. We didn’t interact much, until recently… I wanted to go against you, so I thought of her. I hinted to her that someone really important was by your side now, and then she came back. I didn’t know what she was planning. I didn’t know until she got arrested. I thought that was the end of it, but then I went to a bar, and someone approached me asking for help to get Quinn out. Around the same time, I overheard Mom and Dad talking about wanting to send me away. I was upset-so I agreed to work with them.”

He paused, then continued. “I didn’t know they were going to attack you. All I did was help get Quinn out I only found out afterward that they sent someone to kill you. That’s when Quinn started threatening me -said I had to give her daughter back.”

At this point, Jose had nothing left to hide. He confessed everything he knew.
