Chapter 228
Brada lowered his head, looking pitiful as he said, “I’m really sorry, Skylar. I didn’t mean to waste your time.”
Just now, while Brada was pretending to be asleep, Skylar
on his condition before giving him acupuncture.
Though it was slightly weak, it would never cause him to lose consciousness.
Skylar had long seen through his little tricks but pretended otherwise. With feigned concern, she said, “Look at you, in such terrible condition. As your business partner, of course, I had to come check on you.”
Brada played along, coughing weakly a few times, hi

a place in Skylar’s heart after all,’ he thought smugly.
‘With a little more effort, I’m sure I can win Skylar’s heart,’ Brada told himself, feeling more determined than ever.
‘Come on, Brada, you can do this!‘ he psyched himself up, newly energized.
Brada looked at Skylar and said with a pitiful tone, “Skylar, I’m so lucky to have you. I honestly can’t imagine how I would’ve gotten through this without you by my side.”
Skylar said, “You’re heaven’s favorite, you’d be just fine even without me.”
Brada murmured a soft response.
Brada asked tentatively, “Skylar, if you’re not too busy these days… could you come visit me at the hospital? I could really use some company.”
Brada let his head droop even lower, putting on his most pitiful act. “Being all alone like this… it’s really getting to me,” he murmured.
Chris stood there dumbfounded.
‘Does he not even see me as a person?‘ Chris thought indignantly.
“Don’t worry,” Skylar said with feigned seriousness. “I’d never leave you all alone in the hospital.”
Skylar said with feigned concern, “Honestly, a single acupuncture session probably won’t cut it for your condition, you’ll need several more treatments to fully recover.”
“More needles?” Brada instinctively rubbed her wrist, her voice tinged with apprehension. “I feel perfectlye now, Skylar. Do we really have to keep going with the needles?”
“Absolutely not,” Skylar flatly refused. “You’re not fully recovered yet. How can you quit treatment halfway?”
“I’m not giving up halfway, I really do feel completely better now, so I don’t need any more needles,” Brada insisted. Just thinking about acupuncture made those spots where he’d been pricked throb with phantom pain all over again.
He thought in a panic, ‘If she sticks me with those needles again, will I even make it out alive?

Chapter 2281
‘The worst part is, I’m not even sick! Sure, Skylar knows her herbs, but pharmacology and medicine aren’t the same thing What if she ends up doing more harm than good?
‘It’s not that I don’t trust. Skylar’s acupuncture skills, but if I end up getting killed by these needles and Yosef swoops in to take my place, that would be a huge loss for me.‘
Brada gulped nervously, his voice taking on a pleading tone. “Skylar…”
Skylar wasn’t falling for it. Her expression turned serious as she said, “Brada, have you ever heard an old saying?”
Brada blinked and asked, “What saying is that, Skylar?”
Skylar advised, “There’s an old saying. If you keep hiding your illness and avoid treatment, a minor condition will only get worse, and when that happens, it’ll be too late for regrets or tears.”
Brada scratched his head, looking puzzled. “Well… what does that even mean?”
Skylar briefly explained, “So if you have a chance to get better but avoid treatment out of fear, you’ll be the only one to regret it in the end.”
