The Primordial Record novel Chapter 1599

Chapter 1599: killing Creators

The Celestial Creators attacked, their bodies like a galaxy of light made manifest, and the Seraphims stood on their shoulders, imbuing them with might that could shatter all creation.

Thaleriel, The Sundered Wing, Durakiel, The Unforgiven, Valandreil, The Silent Judgment, Zukiel, The Unbroken Will, Teophiel, The Golden Song, Ravandiel, Weeping Star, Aurelia, Shadow of Mercy.

Everyone was a distinct individual, but their titles were all inherited, so if a Celestial Creator were to fall, their successor would inherit their title and power. This meant knowledge, wealth, and all the techniques learnt by the previous Celestial Creator.

What Rowan was about to face was not just seven Celestial Creators, but the full might of a line of unbroken Celestial harmony that had been forged under the weight of time and endless battles.

They came on wings of blinding fury, spears of crystallized judgment leveled against Rowan’s chest. Cherubims with eyes like dying suns, Seraphims wreathed in spinning halos of law, and Celestial Creators whose roar of battle split the heavens, at their lead was Durakiel, the Unforgiven, who was wielding a blade of fire whose appearance was similar to Rowan’s Destroyer and also pulsed with a power of Destruction.

Durakiel roared, his voice a broken harmony of rage, "Lay down your blade. Kneel and accept your death. This is the mercy of the Light!"

The Destroyer in Rowan’s hands sensed the power from that blade, and its laughter took on a note of anger. If there were ever to be any blade that held the power of Destruction, the Destroyer alone would be that blade.

At this time, Rowan laughed, echoing his Destroyer,

"Mercy? The heavens should be begging for my mercy."

At this time, whether the man or his blade that moved first was unknown, but Rowan pierced through the formation seeking to encircle him, but he was intercepted by Durakiel.

The Celestial Creator struck first, his blade whose Memory was so potent that its name was branded in Reality. Lumiel’s Fang, forged from the hearts of a hundred Seraphims, tore through Reality at a speed that would make light appear still. This slash could tear all of creation in two.

Rowan’s eyes widened, and his heart beat marginally faster. The might of this blade could tear him in two, and a few more slashes might be enough to kill him.

’How fascinating. So much potential packed in such a small weapon.’

Rowan moved like a thought unfinished, sidestepping the sweep of the blade, but the impossible current of energy that it possessed brushed past him and eradicated his flesh to the bone, but he healed so rapidly it was as if it never happened, and although he lost twenty percent of his Ether and Essence, in a heartbeat they were replaced.

As he dodged the blow, his Destroyer, Apollyon, flashed upward in a crescent of scarlet fire, and Lumiel’s Fang was split in two.

The eyes of Durakiel flashed in shock and then fear, a moment before a shocking explosion of power erupted from the blade that had been sliced in two. Before the blast could ripple outward, Rowan grabbed the Celestial Creator by the head and punched both halves of the exploding blade into his chest.

Aurelia, Shadow of Mercy, came down with twin scimitars, each carving a river of fire that burned reality to ash. Rowan parried the first, took the second across his ribs, and grinned as his blood ignited.

From the look of shock that flashed across Aurelia’s eyes, she had not expected that Rowan’s body was so durable that he would not be sliced in two and instantly collapse into ash.

Every weapon wielded by a Celestial Creator was a potent killing tool that existed before even most of the Celestial Creators were born; they were all forged by primordial might and were not something that should be easily brushed off.

Rowan did not give her the benefit of recovering from her failed attacks. He seized her wings of light, uncaring that something so ethereal should not have been able to be held with the bare hand. His Will was potent enough to affect Reality, and if he wanted to hold light, then nothing could stop him.

Drawing her closer to him with so much force that several of her wings were pulled off her back, Apollyon, the Destroyer, was plunged into her throat. Aurelia, Shadow of Mercy dissolved into screaming embers.

Her last whispers echoed, "Abomination, you shall fall."

Rowan smiled, bloodthirst in his eyes, "Not before you. Unlike you all, my words are not empty."

Three Celestial Creators falling in such a short time sent ripples of power pulsing throughout Creation that could not be hidden.
