Scarlett Jennings and Samuel Chalmers were the first to step off.
Following closely behind were three other Security Bureau personnel.
Lastly, Stella Gibson led Greta and Olivia Xalvadora.
Stella Gibson reassured Greta and Olivia,
"Don’t be scared, I’m here with you."
After all, she was their Contract Master!
Greta didn’t really understand but nodded and followed.
Until all three finally walked down the gangway, two people emerged from the crowd, one of them was the Dean of Capital Academy.
Just as Stella Gibson hadn’t reacted yet, the Dean’s companion, a middle-aged man in military uniform, suddenly gave a solemn military salute in their direction.
Swish, swish, swish.
The Security Bureau team members lined up behind the man, along with Scarlett Jennings and the three Security Bureau personnel, simultaneously raised their hands in a Mystical Sect salute.
Greta suddenly stopped in her tracks.
Looking at the silent saluting crowd, her gaze finally settled on the middle-aged man in the military uniform opposite her.
She instinctively straightened her stance like a pine tree, raised her hand, and actually mimicked the same gesture.
The middle-aged man’s pupils slightly trembled.
He had already learned from the Security Bureau that the person in front of him had become an Undying Bone.
Also known in the folklore as an Undead.
At the time, her remains were stolen by the Evil Master, and they could only ask for the Security Bureau’s help.
Though the remains were eventually recovered, the martyr could never return to the cemetery.
He couldn’t even bring someone to retrieve her remains and could only represent the military in a welcome and a farewell.
He wasn’t part of the Mystical Sect and didn’t understand what an Undying Bone Undead was.
He only knew that the person in front of him had shed blood for the country during her lifetime.
His salute was for a heroic spirit.
Yet he never expected her to respond to him.
But soon, understanding something, he stepped forward, extended his hand to her solemnly and gravely,
"Greta, welcome home."
He had already learned her new name from the Security Bureau people.
A very good name.
Greta watched his actions, a hint of confusion flashed in her eyes, but she still reached out to shake his hand without hesitation.
The pale, bloodless hand grasped the calloused, large palm, and for a moment, she seemed to see many shadows from the man in front of her.
She didn’t know what those shadows were.
But they made her feel... very familiar.
In principle, an Undying Bone is prohibited from interacting with ordinary people until their safety is fully confirmed.
But watching the two of them acting like that, none of the Security Bureau personnel stepped forward to stop them.
They just quietly watched.
Stella Gibson finally understood that perhaps these people were not there to "escort" them.
They were there to welcome him.
...
When the middle-aged man personally welcomed Greta into one of the military SUVs, Scarlett Jennings finally turned to the Dean of Capital Academy.
Her presence was no surprise to Scarlett Jennings.
Or rather, she had specifically notified them before boarding the plane.
She beckoned Stella Gibson, who was about to get into the car, and they both approached the Dean.
"Dean, the Sea City Group’s task for the third match of the academy competition, the recovery of the martyr’s remains, is officially completed."
Her voice was calm, bearing the tranquility of mission accomplished.
Stella Gibson was first startled, then her baby face turned solemn and serious.
The Dean looked at the two young girls in front of him, eyes full of unmasked gratification.
"Good."
He said, "The Sea City Group worked hard, and I’m pleased that the Taoism Academy has students like you this year. I will announce and update the final results of this academy competition."
Scarlett Jennings nodded, satisfied.
Stella Gibson then asked,
