The first thing Greta did upon waking was to teleport Olivia Xalvadora to a corner. Then she teleported again, suddenly appearing in front of the Black Mist man.
The Black Mist man was dodging Scarlett Jennings’s Peach Wood Sword and didn’t notice her approach. When he came to his senses, he saw her fingers clawed and lunging towards his arm.
"Ah!"
The man’s hand, which was holding the Black Bell, was abruptly torn off. He let out a scream and quickly chanted something, as the arm turned into black mist and began to wrap around Greta.
Greta had no fear and violently tore again, directly pulling out the Black Bell that had been confusing him.
This thing was the reason he suddenly couldn’t move just now.
As Greta pulled the Bell, it flew out and fell to the ground. Scarlett Jennings seized this chance to retract the Peach Wood Sword and swiftly sent a Thunder Talisman flying towards the man.
"The Supreme has decreed, thunder strikes, boom!"
With Scarlett Jennings’s rapid chanting, Greta felt something and quickly dodged away.
Simultaneously, with the last word of command, a bolt of Purple Thunder struck down from above the man’s head.
The thick Purple Thunder nearly engulfed the Black Mist man’s body.
When the thunder dissipated, all that was left where the man had stood was a wisp of black mist scattered by the strike.
Although Scarlett Jennings had suspected this for some time, witnessing it still left her feeling unsettled.
The person before her, similar to Nolan Snyder, was another Black Mist Puppet.
He was clearly still after the Undying Bone.
This indicated that there was a hidden adversary behind the Myriad Corpses Formation.
She had suspected as much. No matter how skilled Nolan Snyder was, he couldn’t have set up such a complex formation by himself.
Just collecting ninety-nine ghostly women couldn’t have been done alone.
She didn’t know whether Nolan Snyder was backed by another person, or possibly... an organization?
...
In a room on the west side of the city, a man who had suddenly lost his Black Mist Puppet, spat out a mouthful of blood.
Seeing his own Black Mist suddenly weaken, the man’s face turned exceedingly grim.
"Scarlett Jennings, again Scarlett Jennings..."
Years ago, her mother had cost them several Elders, and now she was here to rob them of the painstakingly refined Undying Bone!
If only back then... they had killed her immediately upon her birth!
The man thought resentfully, wiping the blood from his lips with a hand, hesitated for a moment, but still sent a message to the organization.
The Undying Bone was intercepted, and along with it, the Black Bone Bell that controlled it was stolen. Facing the punishment he’d likely receive when he returned, he thought...
He looked at the person lying on the bed in the room, wrapped like a mummy, squinted his eyes.
If he took this person back, perhaps his punishment would be somewhat alleviated.
...
On the other side, Olivia Xalvadora watched as the Black Mist man was vanquished. Then she ran over cautiously from the corner, seeing the Black Bell that Greta had pulled from the Black Mist man, she instinctively squatted down to pick it up.
"Don’t move!"
Scarlett Jennings shouted urgently, and Olivia Xalvadora’s hand froze in mid-air.
Greta went over, grabbed her under the armpits, and lifted her away from the black bell.
That thing wasn’t good.
Once Olivia moved away, Scarlett Jennings approached, quickly drawing a sealing Spirit Talisman in the air and casting it upon the Black Bell. Only then did she take out several talisman papers, wrap it carefully, and put it away.
After completing all this, she looked up to see Greta holding Olivia Xalvadora by the side, watching her, with her head bowed like a child who had done something wrong.
Scarlett Jennings remembered the man who had been beaten into spitting blood and pressed her lips together, approaching Olivia and smoothing her somewhat disheveled hair before gently asking,
"Were you scared?"
Olivia first looked up at her in surprise, then, the next second, her eyes reddened, and she shook her head forcefully, choking out,
"With uncle here, I’m not afraid."
She spoke, as if remembering something, suddenly stepped forward, lifted her head, and eagerly asked,
"Sister, since uncle killed someone, does that mean he can’t forge a contract with you all?"
Olivia’s words seemed to be what Greta wanted to know too, as he instinctively looked at Scarlett Jennings.
Facing Olivia’s eager gaze and Greta’s intense eyes, Scarlett Jennings replied,
