When Greta instantly teleported to that chaotic little alley following the young girl’s aura, she saw the girl being pinned to the ground. The person had one hand tightly covering her mouth, while the other was tugging at her new skirt.
A flash of crimson swept through Greta’s eyes, and she felt a surge of foul energy all around her. In one swift motion, she stepped forward, lifted her foot, and violently kicked the man away.
The man was caught off guard. As he flew away, it seemed that several bones were heard cracking; upon hitting the wall, large mouthfuls of blood gushed from his nose and mouth.
The crimson in Greta’s eyes hadn’t faded, and she was about to move forward again when Olivia Xalvadora crawled up and hugged his leg tightly.
"Uncle!"
Her face bore a few bruises from a pinch, and her previously neatly braided hair was disheveled. Although scared, she wasn’t seriously harmed.
She knew her uncle would come to save her.
With Olivia holding onto him, the crimson in Greta’s eyes gradually faded away.
He glanced at the man on the ground, constantly vomiting blood, then looked at the little girl at his feet. Suddenly, he bent down, picked up the little girl, and instantly teleported out of the alley.
Scarlett Jennings and Samuel Chalmers arrived a step later, just in time to see Greta disappearing with the girl.
Turning his head, he looked at the man gasping for breath against the wall corner. Seeing the man’s face, a glimmer of coldness flashed in Scarlett Jennings’ eyes.
Although she found him utterly disgusting, reason prompted her to act quickly, sending a talisman towards the man to forcibly suppress the dispersing of his three souls and seven spirits.
Once his spirit scattered, the man would die on the spot.
This man was a deserving scoundrel, but he couldn’t die just yet.
Because if he died, it would solidify the guilt of the Undying Bone for murder.
Greta was innocent and shouldn’t be tainted by such a piece of scum.
More importantly, once an Undying Bone had killed, it was difficult to be accepted again.
Samuel Chalmers understood what she wanted to do at a glance and said directly,
"Leave the task of convicting him to me; you go find him."
Even though the eyewitness had run, the Security Bureau didn’t need overt evidence for their cases.
As long as he’s convicted, even if he dies en route during transport, it would be considered premature death of a death row inmate.
Scarlett Jennings saw Samuel Chalmers take on the matter without asking and, though touched, was worried about Greta, immediately replied,
"This man has several child molestation cases against him; these are enough to seal his fate. I’ll go find Greta now."
Having said this, Scarlett Jennings didn’t hesitate, sending a Clear Breeze Charm swiftly in the direction where the foul energy had disappeared.
Samuel Chalmers watched her leave, then coldly observed the man on the ground whose spirit had been forcibly suppressed by a talisman, took out his phone, and dialed a number.
Shortly, the head of the Peaceful City Security Bureau arrived to take over dealing with the middle-aged man.
When they carried the man away, one side of his body appeared seriously injured, his bones evidently weakened. Under normal circumstances, such severe injuries would be fatal long ago, yet his spirit was being forcibly suppressed by a talisman, keeping him barely alive.
"This man is carrying foul energy; it’s the doing of the Undying Bone!"
A young Security Bureau officer who came with them angrily directed his words at Samuel Chalmers,
"Undying Bone committed murder, why are you suppressing his spirit and not letting him die? Forcefully hanging onto his spirit is a violation!"
Because sustaining the spirit of a person instead of sustaining life means the person feels death but can’t die, which could be even worse than letting someone die.
Samuel Chalmers heard this, coldly swept his gaze over the person,
"What regulation are you referring to?"
A simple, mild sentence that carried full authority, making the young officer feel as if his throat was choked, daring not to retort.
The branch office head beside them immediately reprimanded,
"Higher-ups don’t need your input during their work!"
While the lower ranks may not understand, the head faintly recognized the identity of the person in front of them.
Moreover, the man’s appearance screamed he’s a scoundrel; to do those things to a child, suffering before death was well-deserved!
The young officer, though scolded and silenced, harbored lingering dissatisfaction.
Even if the person is bad, they still have human rights, as do the spirits.
