Chapter 23
It was mid-August.
The sun was scorching, the cicadas on the branches were chirping incessantly, Grace was awakened by the noise, and the first thing she did when she opened her eyes was to look at the calendar on her phone.
August 15th.
In one more week, it would be the day when we could collect the divorce certificate.
She walked to the balcony, pulled the curtains and pushed the door open. A wave of scorching heat hit her face, but in just a moment, she closed the door again.
She sighed softly, feeling a bit lazy as she thought, if she didn’t water the flowers soon, would the newly bought jasmine plant die?
His gaze fell on the potted plant.
Yesterday, there were some wilted jasmine flowers, but now they are blooming beautifully with pure white, delicate petals in a brand new pot.
Brand new as if not the same pot of flowers.
A chill crept up the spine.

Had Been in and out of her room.
Realizing this.
Grace’s heart raced in an instant, but she kept a calm expression on her face, suppressing the trembling caused by fear. She set an alarm clock, and when it went off, she pretended to answer, “Alright, I’ll be right there.”
Pretending everything was normal, Grace answered the phone and walked out of the room.
The door was closed.
She took a deep breath, steadied herself, and arrived at the elevator entrance.
The elevator slowly went down.
The ‘ding’ sound rang out as the elevator door opened. Grace breathed a sigh of relief as she walked in, finding the elevator empty.
The door slowly closed, and at that moment, a man’s hand appeared in the air. The elevator sensed it and slowly opened again.
Grace’s heart lifted.
She watched as a tightly wrapped man walked in, wearing a hat and a mask, Grace couldn’t see his face clearly.
Time seemed to pass very slowly all of a sudden.
Grace clenched the phone in her hand, staring straight ahead, too

afraid to look at him, but keeping a close eye on every move he made.
She could see that the person glanced at her.
In the quiet and narrow space, Grace’s mind was constantly filled with the combat knowledge she had learned online.
The first floor has arrived.
The sound of the elevator saved Grace’s heart, like a gust of wind, she quickly passed the man and got out of the elevator.
Footsteps could also be heard behind.
Grace walked faster, and the man’s footsteps quickened as well. She glanced over and indeed saw the man who had just been wrapped up tightly.
Turned around the corner.
The security booth was right in front of her, her eyes lit up, and she hurried over, “Help, someone is following me!”
The security guards in the upscale residential area were all at the level. of bodyguards.
As soon as the words fell, several figures rushed out from inside and held down the man who was trying to escape.
“You got it wrong, I knew her, Grace was me…”
The sound was somewhat familiar. Grace leaned in to take a look, and in the struggle, the man’s hat and mask fell off, revealing a familiar face.

She was dumbfounded: “How come it’s you?”
The person who came was Eliezer.
He looked disheveled and said with a pained expression, “It was me…”
“Why did you follow me?”
Seeing Grace looking wary, Eliezer looked at her pitifully and said, “I was hesitating whether to say hello to you. I was afraid that you were still mad at me, so I just followed you.”
There were still doubts in my heart.
Grace said slowly, “You really haven’t been in my room? My room has been tampered with.”
