Chapter 75
“She does, yes. She’s very diligent,” I tell her.
“Can you ask her to come in here? Maybe she can help me figure this out,” she says.
‘Enya, can you come to Shane’s office?‘ I say in the mind link.
‘Is everything okay?‘ she asks.
‘Yeah, my mom needs to ask you about the supply list for the kitchen.’
‘Give me a minute. I’ll print out my records so we have them for reference.‘
‘Perfect, thank you,‘ I say.
I shouldn’t. I know I shouldn’t, but before I close the mind link, I mentally caress her consciousness. I know she can feel it and I feel her body jolt from the contact. Then I close our connection.
“You realize that there are discrepancies going back to before Alpha Colin passed away, right?” my father asks, looking at a different set of books.
“Yes. Shane and I found those discrepancies. Because Alpha Colin hadn’t started working with Shane on the pack’s finances, we’re not sure if those were clerical errors made by Alpha Colin, or if those are discrepancies,” I tell him.
My father doesn’t look up and he begins cross–referencing the information in front of him. “It looks like discrepancies, not sloppy

calculations. It appears that there is money missing”
I’m about to ask what he means when Enya knocks on the door and
comes in.
“Oh good, Enya. Hopefully you can help me make some sense of this,” my mother says, pulling a chair beside her.
While she sits beside my mother, Shane and I sit beside my father.
“What do you mean about missing money?” I ask him. I have Shane sit beside him so he can see what my father is looking at and I sit across from him.
“Look at this,” he says, showing us two different ledgers.
“This money here, should have shown up here. It isn’t there.” he says.
“Where is it?” Shane asks.
“That is a very good question,” my father says, looking at me. I know what he’s thinking. It’s the same thing I’ve been thinking.
Alpha Colin and Luna Ciara were most likely murdered because someone, probably Dorian, was stealing from the pack. Alpha Colin probably figured it out and confronted the person or began digging deeper into the issues. If that person realized that Alpha Colin was on them, he or she would have needed to get him out of the way quickly, to hide what they’ve done.
And what better way to do that than to have another pack attack and set up a death that looks like it occurred as a consequence of the
attack.

of her. I get distracted when Alpha Sebastian begins telling Shane and Christian that the books he’s looking at don’t match
“Enya,” Alpha Christina says, gently touching my hand.
