I had no idea how much time had passed. His scent was all over me. 

Still, all I wanted was to get away. 

“Jonathan… this won’t work…” 

I knew the reason he was still holding on was because I’d lost my memory. He thought that once I remembered, I wouldn’t have the heart to leave him. 

But he was wrong. 

“I know myself. Maybe I’ve stopped loving you because of the memory loss, but deep down I can tell that even if I remembered everything, I’d still divorce you.” 

As soon as I finished speaking, I saw a flicker of panic on Jonathan’s face. 

I’d never seen him like that before. He gripped my hands tightly, our fingers locked together, holding on so hard it actually hurt. 

“No, Elise. You love me. We were in love… You just forgot…” 

In love? 

I almost laughed. I took a step back, only to slam the back of my head against the wall. 

A sharp pain shot through my skull. My face instantly drained of color. 

Jonathan panicked. “Elise, are you okay?” 

I held back the pain and shoved him away. “I’m fine. Don’t touch me.” 

He had no choice but to stand there, arms braced on either side of me. He wouldn’t hold me down, 

but he wasn’t willing to let me go either. 

His breath lingered dangerously close before he kissed me with desperate passion. My whole 

body felt weak, completely powerless against the way he was kissing me. 

But just then, the dull ache in the back of my head started bringing vivid flashes of memory to the 

surface.
