Calvin
He watched as Wil put his hands on his hips and the man’s head kind of just dropped down and hung there, for a long moment as he absorbed the information. There was no congratulations you found Marrin, no smile about it, nothing of the sort. Then he turned his eyes on Calvin and muttered, “So, what you’re saying is that you had somebne break into Marilyn’s home, and rummage through not only her things, but the boys as well. Stole their DNA for testing against your own!”
“I guess you could put it that way.” Calvin nodded.
“Guess? It’s not a guess Calvin, you just told me you did. So a f*****g fact is what it is. Do you know how many laws you broke in order to get your so–called evidence? Which is now absolutely useless to you in a court of law, because it was gotten by illegal means. Not only did you do all this. Just how do you think Marilyn, who you’ve confirmed is now Marrin, is going to feel about you having a complete stranger trespass on her land, inside her actual home without her permission, and steal from her?”
“Well, obviously Wil, I wasn’t going to tell her.” Calvin frowned at him.
“Well, I dare say she knows now, her lawyer I can guarantee, already suspects you’ve done this, and you’re claiming the twins are yours. She’s Marrin once more. Are you going to present them with the DNA tests you had run? And confirm to them all the laws you broke Calvin by getting it.”
Calvin frowned as he realised where this was going. He couldn’t actually present it to get Marilyn not to press charges against him by stating she was Marrin, and the twins were his. It would be inadmissible to the court, and only show he’d breached their contract and violated her and the twin’s privacy.
“Liam told me to tell you I’ll be a trial by jury. I’m not going to defend you anymore, Calvin. I had worked it out, found a way to do so without breaking the law in any way at all, I was also working to get you at the end of
that restraining order, to be able to sit down in a room with Marilyn to discuss everything I’d found out. Now…” Wil shrugged. “You’ve gone and completely f****d it all up.”
Calvin frowned, “Well, how the hell was I supposed to know that if you didn’t tell me?”
“I bloody did tell you, right after my first meeting with her in the bar, exactly that.” Wil grated out right back. “In your office once after that, as well.”
Calvin huffed as he realised Wil had told him this, “Why would I believe you’d do that? When you’ve done
nothing but tell me to stay away from her, that she’s not Marrin, to let it go and walk away.”
“Because of your bloody obsession is why. You were ruining your chance of her wanting to come back to you. I knew who she was. When I saw all those scars on her body, knew my theory on Marrin was correct. I set out with Anabell’s help to find evidence, and we did connected all the dots right back to when Marrin legally changed her name to Marilyn. All without going near her Calvin.
“My meeting with her was to present her with all the evidence of who she truly is, Marrin. That the boys are yours and hers. I was working on getting her to let you see them, maybe see her even, but now I dare say it’s all ruined by you Calvin.”

“Why the hell didn’t you present that evidence to me, before her. Tell me your plan.” Calvin yelled at him. Wil had told him once if he found Marrin he’d just hand the address over and state I’d found her. He’d not done

Why? Wil shook his head. “Because of your dark obsession, Calvin, because you attacked her twice already put her in the hospital and injured her is why. I honestly didn’t believe you could stay out of it, and would leave it up to me to sort it out. And, well, I was right now, wasn’t I? You did find a way to push yourself into her life. Hell Calvin, you started a charity just to get to her or the twins.”
“It wasn’t supposed to come out or for her to find out yet. I sent one booklet to the school principal, they must have duplicated it and passed it to the students.”
“Well, what happens if Marilyn decides you’re still a threat to her, as well as her boys now? Did you think about that or only see it from your own personal perspective, whatever the hell that was!”

“Enough Calvin, you could well have just given Marilyn a reason to pack up her boys and move away once more, just leave and disappear like she did when she was Marrin. Do you actually understand that? You can’t fix this the way you think you can. You have done too much damage already with harming her.
“Then what the hell am I supposed to do, William?” Calvin snapped at him. “I can’t just leave them out there

He was also inside their home, likely their very bedrooms, and touched their things. Liam could well spin it as Phillipe is a predator, a paedophile and the boys are his next target.

Im not going to help you with that. Will shook his head to Indicate no.
Then help me to fix it” Calvin frowned. Clearly, he’d not thought everything through, and maybe he’d believed he was managing his obsession, but really he wasn’t. It had just turned him to find other ways to get to her, even though he’d stayed away from her, and just wanted confirmation the twins were his.
Wil he knew was all lawyer, looking at everything from a courtroom perspective, and from a legal standpoint, thinking about all the laws he’d breached and the ramifications that could follow on from his actions, and not just for himself but Phillipe as well.
7s there anything else I need to know, that you’ve done where Marilyn is concerned? I’m supposed to have a meeting with her next week, about Marilyn agreeing to see you but.” Wil shrugged and left it unsaid. “Maybe Calvin, I should just go and be her lawyer, it seems she does need protection from you.”
Clavin glared at Wil now. She didn’t need protection from him, he would never physically harm her… he sighed internally at that very thought, because he had in fact harmed her.
“You, Calvin, need to stop thinking you know best, and how to deal with Marilyn. You got it wrong all those years ago, went against my advice and now again, eight years on, you’re making all the same choices, doing everything wrong and again not listening to me and heeding my advice.”
Calvin watched as Wil turned away from him once more and started pulling books off the shelf. He’d not been able to convince his friend to stay here, only seemed to convince him he was an actual threat to Marilyn, and that Wil himself thought he needed to jump to her side and defend her from Calvin himself. How on earth had this turn of events come about?
“I see no point in being your attorney anymore, Calvin, you don’t listen to my legal advice. An attorney is only capable of helping if the client allows them to, and you clearly aren’t willing to allow me to do that. Don’t care about the advice I’ve given you right from the day Marilyn was here in town.”
“Wil… We’ve been best friends for 24 years.”
“Yes and still you won’t listen to me, where Marilyn is concerned. The most important thing in the world to you, and you still don’t listen to me. Went against everything I told you,”
“I always listen to you Wil, it’s just…” Calvin huffed. He couldn’t even finish that sentence because Wil was right. He’d told him to stay away from her on the day he’d seen Marilyn here in Houston and gone against that advice. Had even muttered to himself ‘Sorry Wil.‘ at the time.
“Just not where Marilyn or Marrin is concerned, right. But that is actually where you need to listen to me the most, now isn’t it! After all the damage you already did. Physically and emotionally,” Wil stated simply.
