Stella immediately went to look for Emily. ‘Running into Emily at the hospital definitely isn’t normal,‘ Stella thought. ‘She’s probably involved in whatever happened to Eleanor.‘
She thought, ‘Eleanor didn’t even have Emily’s number saved in her phone, so why did Emily call her in the first place? And what did she say to her?‘
Stella called Jordan and told him she had some leads. Jordan asked gently, “Do you need me to come over?”
“Come on over, I could use some help,” Stella replied.
Though the company was now hers, she hadn’t quite proven herself yet, so many people still didn’t fully trust her. Jordan was the only one she could count on.
Stella looked up where Emily was and waited for Jordan. When he arrived, they headed to Emily’s place together.
It was a villa, not huge, but dreamy and beautifully decorated. From what Stella remembered, this just didn’t add up.
Emily was never well–off, and no matter how hard she hustled, there was no way she could afford a place like this. “I never knew Emily lived in such a nice place,” Stella said.
“It’s not that she’s always lived like this. Someone bought this house for her in the last two years while you were away,” someone replied. Kevin was the one who showed up.
After Troy’s situation blew over, Kevin was busy taking over the company. He’d just heard Eleanor died and originally wanted to check on Stella, but noticing Emily sneaking around lately, he decided to come here first.
“What brings you here, Kevin?” Stella asked, genuinely surprised.
Kevin greeted Jordan first, then explained, “You said before you thought Emily might be involved in your kidnapping, right? I’ve had people watching her ever since.
“Lately, she’s been acting strangely, and then with your grandmother passing away, I started to worry the two things might be connected. So I came to check on Emily first. Didn’t expect to run into you here.”
“You just got here?” Stella asked.
“I’ve been here for a while. She’s not around, and a lot of her IDs and important documents are missing. Looks like she’s already skipped town,” Kevin said as he rummaged through Emily’s room.
Stella frowned, something clicking in her mind. “Earlier you said she moved in here two years ago. What did you mean by that?”
“My investigation shows Anna bought this place for Emily. Emily must have a lot of dirt on Anna,” Kevin replied.
Stella had suspected the same thing, which was why she came looking for Emily. But now that Emily was gone, it meant she had already fled.
Jordan pulled out his phone and called the head of the transportation department, asking them to check if there was any sign of Emily leaving by land, sea, or air. If they found anything, they were to call him right away.
Stella, Jordan, and Kevin didn’t leave. They kept searching through the house, hoping to find something useful. They realized that for such a big house, Emily was living there all by herself.
Suddenly, thick smoke started to fill the room, choking them, so all three instinctively covered their mouths and noses.

Jordan immediately shielded Stella, while kevin glanced outside, as if something had just clicked for him. “Someone set the place on fire,” Kevin said.
‘An arson?‘ Stella thought in shock. ‘Could it really be just a coincidence?‘
There was no way they could look for anything now; the fire was spreading too fast. The only thing they could do was get out fast.
Kevin took the lead, but flames blocked their path at every turn, forcing the three of them to search desperately for another way out.

Jordan quickly grabbed three wet clothes, handing them out so each of them could cover their mouth and nose. Finally, Kevin managed to find an escape route, but they’d have to jump for it.
Without a second thought, he jumped down, turned around, and got ready to catch Stella. What he didn’t expect was that Jordan jumped right after him.
Jordan immediately tossed his wet cloth to the ground and reached out to Stella. “Come here, I’ve got you.”
Kevin knew they were married now, so it was only natural for Jordan to do that. But if he tried to do the same, it would just feel wrong.
Still, he didn’t want to let this chance slip by. He wanted to see who Stella would choose in the end.
When he saw Stella go straight to Jordan without even a moment’s hesitation, Kevin’s heart sank. But there was no time to dwell on it. He looked around and said, “We need to get out of here. The fire could spread.”
The three of them rushed out as fast as they could. And they made sure to call the fire department on their way out.
Once they were safely in the car, they had no idea that not far away, Anna was watching the whole scene unfold from her car, a cold smile spreading across her face,
“Emily, did you see that? You almost ruined everything for me, but fortunately, I already had everything under control,” Anna said.
“You definitely can’t leave now. I need to hide you somewhere,” she added.
Emily watched as the house she’d called home for just over two years went up in flames, a bitter taste in her mouth.
She’d grown up with nothing, always on the outside looking in as Stella, Anna, and Kevin lived in beautiful homes, wore stylish clothes, and enjoyed delicious meals every day. ‘Why is it that people like them get everything, and I get nothing?‘ she thought.
For the past two years, helping Anna had brought her plenty of rewards. Anna showered her with gifts and luxuries, and Emily had gotten so
used to this life that she’d lost herself in it.
‘I don’t want to go back to being poor. Never again,‘ she thought.
While sitting in the car, it only now occurred to Stella to check the surveillance cameras in the area. But to her surprise, all the nearby cameras had already been destroyed.
