Maybe it was the frustration getting to him, but for once, Waylon didn’t call her “Ms. Stone.” The name “Freya” slipped out of his mouth far too naturally.

Louis shot him a glance and saw the irritation written all over his face. He casually dropped a bombshell.

“I almost got divorced.”

“… What?” Waylon had been too caught up watching Freya cling to Jasmine and chat away to process what he just heard. “What did you say?”

“I almost got divorced yesterday,” Louis repeated calmly.

“Then why didn’t you? You two should’ve gotten divorced a long time ago.” Waylon said it without thinking.

Louis had been watching Freya and Jasmine the whole time, but now his gaze shifted sharply to Waylon. His silence was heavy.

Freya noticed his strange look. His eyes were practically burning a hole in her arm, and it made her deeply uncomfortable. She reflexively loosened her grip and leaned a little away from Jasmine, completely unaware that Waylon was the reason for her unease.

In her mind, Waylon had never been particularly warm to her anyway. At most, he’d been slightly more polite than Louis‘ other best friends. Without anything to compare it to, she didn’t register his shift in attitude and simply replied casually,

“Yeah, we were caught in the same thing. Thank goodness Jasmine was there to help, or things might’ve gone really badly for
