“Sir Hale, Madam Hale, Mr. Hale’s surgery was very successful. His life was saved for now, but the next seventy–two hours were still critical. Whether he could make it through depended on Mr. Hale’s own will to survive.”

Megan listened, totally panicked, rushed over and grabbed the doctor’s arm, asking, “How can I make my son really want to live?”

“Well…”

The doctor thought for a moment, “Did Mr. Hale have anyone or anything he really cared about?”

“Yeah.” Charlie nodded, “He had someone he really cared about.”

“Then let someone Mr. Hale really cares about come and talk to him. Maybe it could help Mr. Hale wake up sooner,” the doctor said.

“Okay, okay,” Charlie answered quickly, “Thanks for your hard work!‘

“Sir Hale, Madam Hale, you were too polite. This was what we should do.” The lead doctor nodded, then left with the other doctors.
