Mr. Hale, Ms. Aguilera really stole

Shut up!

Before Mara could finish her words, Heriberto angrily interrupted her. His unpleasant face instantly turned icy cold.

Mara looked at him and suddenly trembled all over.

Iris and I aren’t divorced yet. You keep calling her a thief. Are you trying to slap me in the face?

For some reason, Heriberto was beyond angry at that moment. He gritted his teeth and growled, each word dripping with rage.

Mara stared at him, completely terrified and frozen.

What do you mean by stealing? Ms. Caine, tell me. What is stealing?

He kept roaring, furious. These things were hers to begin with. Why would she steal them?

MMr. HaleMara was trembling all over and on the verge of tears.

Put the items down and get out!Heriberto roared again.

Mara nodded frantically, quickly put the items down, and dashed out as if escaping.

When she reached the door, her high heels tripped and she fell. But she didn’t dare to delay, quickly got up and ran out, vanishing from Heriberto’s sight.

Heriberto glared at the cufflinks and jewelry in front of him, his anger boiling over. To vent his rage, he sent the items on the desk crashing to the floor with a loud clatter.

Heriberto had never hated himself like this before.

He spent almost the whole afternoon slumped in his office chair, eyes closed, not moving. No visitors, no calls.

He looked like a dead man.

Then, just before the end of the workday, Melanie Montelle called.

Heri, let’s have dinner together. I’ve got amazing news to tell you.

Heriberto thought about how much Melanie had gone through for him all these years. He owed her. He should treat her better.

She was a star cellist and held over a dozen solo concerts in Oswalon. Her first solo concert in Ardiham was just around the corner.

Lots of people knew her.

As she was sitting right in the hall, all eyes were on her.

When Heriberto walked in, people stared even more.

Heri, you’re here!

Melanie had been watching the door. When she saw him, she stood up right away, smiling sweetly and grabbing his

arm.

Her voice caught all the guestsattention. Some even pulled out their phones and aimed their cameras.

Heriberto glanced around and suggested, Want to change seats? How about a private room?

Huh?

Melanie stuck her tongue out like a naughty girl. Sorry, I didn’t think of that. This place doesn’t have private rooms, but the food here is amazing. I’ve always wanted to try it.

Is that so?

Heriberto curled his lips into a smile. Let’s keep the seat then.

Heri, you’re the best!

Melanie beamed, tiptoed, and gave him a quick kiss on the cheek, right in front of everyone and their cameras.

The kiss was fast, just a touch.

Heriberto’s eyes darkened, but he said nothing. He let Melanie hold his arm as they walked to the seat by the window.

The restaurant manager came over and helped them with the order, all smiles.

Once the manager left, Melanie grabbed Heriberto’s hand, which was still resting on the table.

Heri, I have big news. She looked at him with a glowing gaze, completely smitten.

Heriberto took a sip of water and gently pulled his hand back. He asked calmly, What news?

Melanie giggled, leaned in close, and whispered, I’ve found a womb match and can finally get a transplant.
