It was identical to Cecilia’s WhatsApp icon.
A wave of nausea hit Gabrielle. She couldn’t understand how Timothy could lie to her so easily.
“I won’t marry you.” Her voice trembled. Before tears could fall, she turned and walked away.
“Wait!” Timothy leaped up, grabbing her arm hard. “What’s wrong? Why are you acting like this all of a sudden? Did anyone say anything to you?”
Gabrielle yanked her arm free, her nails leaving a scratch on his wrist. “Let go!”
Just then, a black Mercedes sped out from the corner of the complex and hurtled toward them.
Gabrielle froze in terror, unable to move.
In the blink of an eye, Timothy launched forward and shoved her away.
She crashed onto the roadside lawn, scraping her hands and knees.
Timothy, meanwhile, was thrown violently into the air and slammed down ten meters away.
Gabrielle scrambled up in panic and looked toward the driver’s seat.
Through the window/ she saw Cecilia’s face. She looked pale and terrified. “I’m sorry! The brakes didn’t work!”
Gabrielle didn’t believe her. To her, this was attempted murder.

What was unexpected was that Timothy had taken the hit.
People began to crowd around. Someone called an ambulance. Others filmed the scene, and some blocked Cecilia’s car.
Gabrielle ignored her bleeding knees and knelt beside Timothy. His blood stained her white dress.
His breath was shallow and uneven, his chest barely rising and falling.
Tears streamed down Gabrielle’s face.
She hated his betrayal, yet her heart broke when she saw him hurt to save her.
“I love you…..” Timothy whispered, barely audible. “Forgive me…”
The ambulance siren grew louder.
Paramedics rushed over, lifting Timothy onto a stretcher, hooking up blood bags, and placing an oxygen mask on him. The medical team moved fast.
“Severe condition. Possible internal bleeding,” a doctor said grimly.
Gabrielle wanted to follow, but a hand with red nails grabbed her.
It was Cecilia.
Her eyes were now full of venom, her pretty face twisted with hatred.
Gabrielle shoved her hand away and slapped her hard. The sound echoed, making the onlookers gasp.
Cecilia merely touched her cheek and smiled. It was an unsettling smile.
“Is the patient’s family here? We need someone to ride with us!”

Gabrielle hesitated only a moment before pushing through the crowd. “I’ll go with you. I’m his fiancee!” As she declared, she climbed into the ambulance.
Timothy was rushed into the emergency vehicle. Blood gushed from his wounds, and under the harsh hospital lights, his face looked terrifyingly pale.
“Rh–negative blood. The hospital’s blood supply is running low,” a doctor’s urgent voice echoed through the hallway.
“I have the same blood type,” Gabrielle said calmly.
“Nurse! Take her for a blood draw immediately!”
The nurse led her into the blood collection room. The needle pierced her skin, and bright red blood slowly flowed into the bag.
“How did you know you’re Rh–negative too?” the nurse asked gently, trying to ease her nerves.
Gabrielle said nothing, simply staring blankly at the blood bag.
She was twelve that summer, playing in the hills behind the villa with Timothy.
He had been teaching her to ride a bike. Their laughter echo through the air.
But accidents always stroke unexpectedly.
While Timothy paused to take a drink, Gabrielle lost control and sped down the slope. She then crashed straight onto the highway.
