Holding Aiden’s hands, Arwen went to greet his grandfather.
She thought he would introduce them; however, taking her with him, Aiden made no effort. He just stood with her, holding her hands.
Confused, she turned to look at him. "Husband, you —"
"Don’t expect that from him, dear," Morgan said before Arwen could nudge Aiden. "He wouldn’t make any effort to introduce you to me or anyone."
Arwen pulled her lips into a wide smile and then turned to look at the old man. "Ah... actually, it’s not like that. Aiden had told me about you. He —"
"He did?" the Old Winslow asked deliberately, even after knowing that she was just saying it for a say ... for a general formality.
After all, how else would it sound if she said that her dear husband never cared to mention his family to her?
Laughing out politely, she nodded, "Of course, he did."
"Oh, but he never mentioned you to me," Morgan said, quirking his brows at her.
Selene, who was also sitting there, felt fresh satisfaction blooming in her heart. It suddenly felt like she was getting worked up for no reason. If she had known bringing Granpa Winslow was going to be this satisfying, she wouldn’t have panicked when she heard he was here.
Seems like he also wasn’t in favour of Arwen. Selene’s lips tugged in a smirk as she glanced at Arwen.
On the other hand, Arwen blinked, not understanding how she should respond. If she had known that dealing with the old man would be difficult, she would have come prepared. But no one warned her. Not even Mr. Jones.
Could it be that the old man has not come to meet her, but instead makes things difficult for her?
But then didn’t Mr. Jones say he has always treated Aiden well?
Could it be that he disapproved of her as his wife?
"I wasn’t even aware that he married you until I got the news from someone else," he continued, and Arwen turned to look at Aiden, her brows raising at him as if asking him to tell her what was happening.
Aiden glanced at her before turning to look at his grandfather. "Why do I need to mention her to you? It’s not like I needed your approval to marry her."
Arwen was taken aback. She blinked before swallowing the lump she felt blocking her throat.
Wait! Did he really say that?
And, was that okay?
Awkward, she slowly turned to look towards the grandfather. She expected to see rage in his gaze, but instead, what surprised her was a flicker of amusement that played across his eyes. Like, he didn’t feel disrespected at all.
Was he not offended at all?
Her gaze met with his, and the next instant she saw him smile.
