We were suddenly broken apart by a loud siren going off, indicating that an intruder has entered our land. We pulled away from Izzy to listen out for anything and we heard a set of paws approaching us. We growled and pushed Izzy behind us, after setting her down. We turned around and faced the dark woods, only now realising that it was night time.
We continued to growl as the paws became louder until the wolf was standing in front of us. By the scent we knew exactly who it was, which made us see red. He growled at us, standing in a fighting stance. We snorted, laughing at this challenge.
"Bring it on pup." We snarl at him and charge, shifting in mid air. He charges forward and goes straight for our neck. We step to the side, letting him run right past us. He turned around quickly and tried for another attack. He jumped and landed on our back, biting into our scruff. We snarled and rolled over, making him release. He yelped but still got up quickly. We went for the attack now, making him think we were going for his neck, when we suddenly slid down and bit down on his front left leg, hard. He howled in pain and tried to snap at us, but we just bit down harder, making him whimper.
"Theo stop!" We heard Izzy yell at us, but we were still raging.
"Theo please, stop." We heard her whimper. We blinked our eyes, released his leg and stepped back. We turned to Izzy to see a glare on her face. We hung our head in shame, not wanting her to ever see us like this. She came forward and went to him, she ran her hand through his fur. He purred at the contact and licked her hand. She smiled down at him, ignoring us now. We whimpered softly and turned away from the two of them. We knew we were no longer needed, so we left them there.
She still loved him, from what we could see. We guess, even after what Beau did to her, she still loved him. He was her mate.
Our heart ached, knowing that no matter how hard we tried, she'd always go back to him. When we were far enough we howled out our pain. Collapsing onto the ground, wanting the pain to just go away. They say when your mate rejects you it feels like you're dying. She's not even my mate and yet we feel it. We feel the rejection pain.
"From the way you're laying on the ground whimpering, I take it didn't go so well?" We hear Adrian ask as he sits down next to us. We shift back, not caring that we're naked in front of him.
"She loves him more. He's her mate. I can't be with her." We say sadly, looking down at the ground in pain.
"I'm fine mom. Mom, Dad, this is Adrian. He was my best friend from back home-"
"I still am your best friend. Hi, Adrian Cavil, such a pleasure to meet you both. Though I am confused. Wasn't Uncle Steven your dad?" He asks us. We sigh and tell him the short version of our story, not telling him that I was kidnapped.
"Well damn, very interesting." We go to reply but then hear rustling from behind us. We turn around and see Izzy and Beau emerge from the woods. His arm is around her, as she helps him to walk. She looks up at gives us a small smile, but then turns the smile towards Beau. We let out a soft whimper before rushing into the house.
We make it up to our room, knowing Adrian's right behind us. We sit in the corner of our room and just look down at our feet sadly. We hear Adrian sigh and close our door. He knows that I'm not going to move, so he brings us pillows and blankets.
