Chapter 188
NIKOLAI’S POV
I sat in the restaurant looking around the people, waiting for Leah to show up. As expected, she scheduled the meeting in an expensive restaurant but she wasn’t yet here.
My eyes wandered around and I saw men Paul Salvatore gave me, sitting over tables far away from mine, they were keeping their eyes on me.
Last night after Alessandro left they all couldn’t understand how the hell he got into my room. Then they went to the rooftop and saw the soldiers patrolling the rooftop passed out and wounded, fortunately, Alessandro didn’t kill them. If he had he would have initiated a war that f didn’t want to be a part of.
I may have killed some people while Marco trained me but only those who actually deserved it. I don’t like to spill blood for no reason at all, I wasn’t stupid enough to go on a war with Alessandro in New York City, where he is the King of the dark world.
The men all around me had families and friends that cared about them and when Paul Salvatore made me a part of his family, he also shared their loyalty with me, it wasn’t a one–way street for me. If they were loyal to me then I wanted to be loyal to them too that meant if it was their job to protect me then it was my job to protect them as well.
My eyes flicked toward the entrance of the restaurant where multiple men in black suits entered. I furrowed my eyebrows but then let go of the breath I was holding in when I saw Leah entering the restaurant. Her eyes wandered all over the place before settling on me. As expected, she looked so serious as she walked towards me.
Every movement was purposeful, her chin tilted slightly in that arrogant yet captivating way that made people instinctively move aside, as if her presence alone demanded space. Leah didn’t need to say a word. Her presence spoke for her. Commanding. Cold. Untouchable. The room quieted slightly, not out of fear but out of reverence.
I stood up immediately when she reached my table. “Leah,” I greeted, offering my hand. “I don’t have a lot of time, let’s talk about this quickly, She ignored my hand and took a seat across from me and crossed her legs.
Before I could respond, the waiter immediately poured the red wine for us in our glasses.
“Are you ready to order?” the waiter asked.
“In a minute…” Leah retorted quickly, not even sparing him a glance. He nodded silently and moved on to another table.
Once he was out of earshot, she turned her full attention to me, her gaze sharp and unwavering. “So, tell me, how is everything going?”
I picked up the glass but didn’t drink. “Complicated.”
Leah leaned back slightly, arching a brow. “Complicated doesn’t work for me. I need results, not riddles.”
I met her gaze head–on. “If you’re talking about Alessandro, then yeah, it’s complicated.”
She exhaled slowly through her nose, the kind of breath that held back years of fury. “He’s a disease. You don’t reason with a disease, Nikolai: You cut it out before it spreads.”
“I don’t want him dead.”
The words came out firm, calm. But Leah’s eyes flared with disbelief.
“You can’t be serious.” Her voice dropped to a whisper that was far more dangerous than any shout. “We trained you Nikolai because its only you who is his weakness“,
“Yes but right now, I want a divorce,“/1 interrupted, finally sipping the wine, letting the burn stall the storm inside me. “Clean. Legal. Permanent. And he is going to sign the divorce papers“, I lied. Alessandro of course refused.

Chapter 188
“The De Luca don’t believe in divorce, Nikolai. Especially the head of the family,” Leah said coldly, her voice laced with impatience. I already told-
“I know…” I cut her off mid–sentence, my tone sharper than I intended.
“You only have one week, to end him or else i will kill you together, She threatened me then before I could respond, she stood up and walked out fuming.

I shook my head and stood up too. Leah already knew how dangerous Alessandro is but still, she was pushing me. Still demanding blood, like it was the only language worth speaking. I didn’t want to have a fight with him. I honestly feared him so much.
There were multiple black SUVS parked outside of the restaurant. It was the first thing, I noticed when I walked out of the restaurant. It wouldn’t be a surprise if Alessandro was among them too.
All of Paul’s men had their hands over their holsters, “Don’t…” I ordered.
“What if they attack us first?” Dante asked, looking around with a deep frown on his face.
“They won’t! Let’s just get to our cars and get out of here, alright? Where’s Marco?”
Dante’s eyes snapped in all directions, “He is waiting for you in the car.”
I nodded then walked towards it but just as I reached for the door handle, I heard a chillingly familiar voice calling my name from behind.
“Nikolai“,
A chill ran down my spine as I braced myself to confront the man whose voice I had heard. Taking a deep breath, I slowly swerved to face Antonio. Did Alessandro send him here?!
Fury coursed through me, gripping me tightly and clouding my senses. I narrowed my eyes as my jaw tensed. “Antonio…”
“You seriously going to divorce Mr Alessandro?“, I frowned deeply when i heard his question.
