“Thank you, you look incredibly handsome yourself, Mr. De Luca.”

I smiled and gestured for the priest to start the ceremony.

“We are gathered here today in the sight of God and these witnesses to join together Alessandro De Luca and Nikolai Bolton in holy matrimony; which is an honorable estate, instituted of God. Therefore; it is not to be entered into unadvisedly or lightly, but reverently and soberly. Into this holy estate, these two persons present come now to be joined. Therefore, if anyone can show just cause why they may not be lawfully joined together, let them speak now or forever hold their peace.”

I shot the guests a quick glare and the entire ceremony hushed down, it was reduced to slight whispers here and there. Eleonora De Luca, my mother was surprisingly around and a smile formed on her lips when my eyes fall on her. She no longer had words to say about my love.

I smiled back too.

When I turned back, Nikolai was looking at me; his eyes shining with amusement. He gave his head a subtle shake and faced the priest once more.

The rings were presented to the priest as he blessed them. “Alessandro, please take the ring you have selected for Nikolai. As you place it on his finger, offer your vows.”

I picked up the ring and turned to face him, he looked nervous, alarmed, and a little surprised. “Nikolai, I promise to encourage your kindness, because that is what makes you… Well, you.” he laughed at that but I noticed the tears welling up in his eyes. “I promise to help shoulder our challenges, for there is nothing we cannot face if we stand together. I promise to be your partner in all things. Not possessing you, but working with you as a part of the whole. Lastly, I promise you perfect love and perfect trust, for one lifetime with you could never be enough. This is my sacred vow to you, my equal in all things.” I slid the ring onto his finger and then raised his hand and plastered a kiss.

“Nikolai, please take the ring you have selected for Alessandro. As you place it on his finger, offer your vows.”

He glanced heavenwards as to keep his tears in and smiled at me. “I promise to be your lover, companion, and friend. Your partner in parenthood. Your ally in conflict. And your greatest fan and your toughest adversary. Your comrade in adventure. Your student and your teacher. And your consolation in disappointment. Your accomplice in mischief. This is my sacred vow to you, my equal in all things. All things. I love you, Alessandro.” he slid the ring onto my finger and I couldn’t fucking help it as I grabbed him and pulled him to me but he stopped me by placing his hands over my chest, giving me a wide–eyed look.

I let out a breath and glanced at the priest.

“Those whom God has joined together, let no man put asunder. In so much as Alessandro and Nikolai have consented together in holy wedlock, and have witnessed the same before God and this company, having given and pledged their faith, each to the other, and having declared same by the giving and receiving of rings, I pronounce that you are husbands. I ask you now to seal the promises you have made with each other this day with a kiss.”

And that was fucking it, that was the end of my fucking patience ás I grabbed his face and kissed him. Sealing our promises and all that shit.
