“You think you're still a child because you have family—parents and elders to rely on. But in your father's eyes now, are you really still his child? Are these sacrifices you're making what a child should be doing?"
Tybalt could tell Hazel was crying despite her not facing him. He could tell she was crying intensely. He gently loosened his grip on her hand.
"I'm sorry if I hurt you. I know it's hard for you to accept what I’ve said. Hazel, I truly thank you. I can see you're resisting your father in your own way, doing everything you can to fight back. I shouldn't have rushed you. I apologize. The reason I can spot something's wrong right away is because I’m just like you."
Hazel turned around, looking at Tybalt in disbelief. She sat down on the ground as he began to tell his story. "My father is the one who sold me here. He has never cared about me. My mother passed away in an accident when I was seven.
"Do you know what happened the day my mom died? That so-called father of mine spent the night partying in a nightclub, celebrating with another woman.
"From that day on, I realized my father was nothing more than a scumbag who played with my mother’s feelings. After that, I endured ten years of silent suffering. I shamelessly stuck around in my father's house no matter how many times he tried to kick me out.
"He couldn’t get rid of me because he feared I’d expose all his affairs and scandals. So, grudgingly, he sent me to boarding school.
"I just turned 18 a couple of days earlier, and the old bastard already couldn't wait to send me here. So when I first saw you and Orson at the door, I just knew. You're just like me—so much like me back then. You feel both fear and anger. You want to fight back but are too hesitant to do so.
"It's not your fault, really. You're kind, and I owe my rescue to you. Thank you. I hope you find peace and happiness. But this place will never bring you joy, so..."
"No, I want you to listen to yourself!" Tybalt replied.
Immediately, Tybalt opened the prison door. Hazel knew that with them being in Palvere, escaping her father's grasp was absolutely impossible. Hence, she thought of a plan. She went up to a table nearby and said, "Tybalt, come here for a moment."
Tybalt stepped closer, and Hazel struck him with a palm filled with true energy.
In an instant, Tybalt felt a surge of heat coursing through his body as if something within him was about to erupt.
