My Substitute CEO Bride (Nash Calicraft) novel Chapter 2706

Tybalt recognized the familiar voice and opened his eyes. “Hazel? It’s you?”

Hazel took out some bread and water from a bag she was holding. “You must be hungry. Hurry and eat before my father realizes.”

Tybalt grabbed the food and started wolfing it down. He quickly finished the two buns before finally asking about Orson. “What’s going on? What do they mean by ‘I have no commercial value anymore’?”

Hazel explained, “A few years ago, this place was just a small village. But after my father took over, everything changed.

“He started secretly spreading rumors that Palvere was a place where people could obtain a divine connection. Because of that, many people came and settled in Palvere, and they did indeed gain power from my father. True energy—have you heard of it?”

Tybalt shook his head. He had never encountered anything like that before.

“Wait,” Tybalt said, suddenly remembering something. “Recently, my scumbag dad kept talking about some divine connection.”

Hazel nodded. “You guessed right. Your family essentially sold you to us in exchange for power.”

“But why did they make me marry you?” Tybalt asked.

Hazel lowered her head and then said coldly, "The reason is simple—they need a vessel that can provide them with true energy."

"What? What do you mean?" Tybalt clearly did not understand.

Hazel pulled out a photograph from her hand. In it, she was pictured with an unfamiliar man.

"The Wakefield family members have a special constitution. Through various intimate contacts, we can stimulate true energy within others. The closer the contact, the more true energy is activated. So, you understand now, right?"

Hazel handed the last bun to Tybalt.

"Tybalt, you're a good person. No matter what happens, I don’t want you to die." Then, Hazel turned to leave. At that moment, Tybalt's hand reached through the iron bars and grasped her arm tightly.

"What a coincidence. I don’t want you to die either. The decision you couldn’t make back then… Can you tell me now?" Tybalt said.

Hazel did not dare to meet his gaze.

"Tybalt, I'm a child of the Wakefield family. I..."

"Child?" Fueled by an unexpected surge of strength, Tybalt pulled Hazel firmly in front of him.
